A lot of his posts were purged, so it's hard to say how long he's really been gone. Or so I remember.

I think that's when he was brought out by some Gk1 talks, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, he made a LJ post ago not too long ago, but it was the normal Firefox coding stuff.

One epic enough to match his brief management of 2k1? Pfft. It's a good thing Konidias is taking it in a better direction than Kai did.

Where did he go? I don't know him but I miss him!
Several quotes I have found around the forums really made me think that he was one hell of a funny guy.
Why did he leave?

I don't think Kai was ever really known for his work in game, but just his posts on the forums.

I think Draenin was trying to draw Kaimetsu out by insulting him. Unfortunately Kai would see through this ploy so it does not matter.

There was a chain resignation after BirdBird quit being manager where the manager position was passed to the next-highest 2K1 staff member who then promptly resigned. Kaimetsu just happened to be one link in that chain. He never took 2K1 in any "direction".

Kaimetsu was the best debater ever on the forums. Most people throw down a bunch of slanted facts in a debate, others just insult you, Kaimetsu insulted you with facts so that when you go to respond your just yelling nonsense just so you don't have to accept defeat. But Kaimetsu didn't care, he knows win he has won.

Anyways, he couldn't debate anything. He had a hell of an ego though, I'll give him that.

Oh and P.S. -

You're joking, right? The most convincing argument Kaimetsu ever won was the argument against his own effectiveness as a coder, and even then, he only won because he convinced himself that he sucked. Do you see any of Kaimetsu's servers around? No, I don't. I'll tell you what I DO see, though: I see some all-talk kid swinging his **** on the Graal Communication Center.

A legendary debater? What the hell did he say? Anything that couldn't be reduced to "your opinion is wrong because I'm popular?" Surely such a great debater is aware of the logical fallacy in appealing to the masses... right?

This fail is so intense that I'm physically repelled by it. Do you not know of the time Kaimetsu engaged Aftershock in an ultimate showdown except that it wasn't ultimate because Aftershock's face ripped in half after glancing at Kaimetsu. Do you not know of the crew Kaimetsu created that rule the forums to this day?

If your definition of "ruling the forums" means speaking in modified Chuck Norris jokes and half-witted 4chan lingo, then yes, I guess you still "rule the forums" to this day. But that's only a stone's throw away from all-talk **** swinging like I said earlier, isn't it?

Another dubious part of your story deals with Kaimetsu's so-called ownage of Aftershock. As I understand, and as research reminds us, Kaimetsu closed a thread that Aftershock felt should be left open. Aftershock reopened the thread and then Kaimetsu closed it a second time, banning aftershock thereafter. Aftershock proceeded to go on a rampage, deleting a lot of Kaimetsu's posts.

News flash: this isn't "ultimate." This isn't "ownage" or "epic win." This is two insecure forums moderators playing tit-for-tat while the public watches. Perhaps by now you've realized the irony of me having to research this ridiculous topic; it's not remembered because no one cares. Moon Goddess and Sam delete posts and close threads they don't like every day. Are they "epic win" too? Are their careers "too big to be put to rest?" No, of course not. People like that are only remembered when it's time to complain and someone needs a martyr. Kaimetsu at best fought a battle to a draw with Aftershock and at worst abused the living hell out of his powers and quit thereafter. Bad fighter or just a coward? You decide.

He's a question for you. Has Kaimetsu actually done anything that still persists today, in-game? Have you even logged on recently? Does anyone from your "crew" do anything useful for the game? If you answered "no" to all of these questions you probably have your head up your ass, and while you think about that, think about this: you claim to be the "God of the forums" yet in many of your posts you seem to simply claim to Kaimetsu's outdated (and deleted!) posts and ideology. How is it, Googi, you manage to be both slave and master? You call yourself a deity and you sort of just rehash whatever Kaimetsu might have said in the situation, only you cover it up with inside jokes and nonsense just in case your questionable intellect has misled you and you end up misinterpreting whatever your lord and master tells you to think, thus earning you ire from both sides of whatever fictitious argument or arguments you perceive as going on here on the Graal Communication Center.

Is this what you mean when you were talking about how hard Kaimetsu owns and how you rule the forums with an iron fist? Because as far as I can tell, your best trick is exploiting the logical problem of inconsistent and nonsensical arguments always being valid. A cute trick, but it doesn't work if you didn't have Kai's **** in your mouth to begin with. Try again!

I'm not talking about me, and I'm not talking about some allied group that conspires to dominate the forums, or something. I'm referring to the fact that Kaimetsu set the culture of the forums, particularly those aspects of it that make it unique from other forums and especially other game forums. Just about anybody of any significance on the forums (except maybe Moon Goddess and Sam, who nobody would care about anyways if it weren't for their staff powers) have had their conduct and posting style influenced considerably by Kaimetsu (even if they think it's cool to act like they haven't). This is what I'm talking about when I say "crew".

Aftershock was banned after he deleted a bunch of Kaimetsu's posts. Not before doing so. Also, you're only looking at the last day or so of the battle. The conflict between them lasted for weeks beforehand.

Moon Goddess and Sam delete posts and close threads they don't like every day.
Yeah, Moon Goddess and Sam delete posts and close threads and nobody considers that to be "epic win". Kaimetsu also deleted other posts and closed other threads and nobody considered that to be "epic win" either, because Aftershock vs. Kaimetsu isn't about deleting posts and closing threads. It's about the fact that Kaimetsu took down a moderator, something a whole lot of people on the forums only wish they could do.

Even if we don't like to admit it, the influence Moon Goddess has had on the forums has been huge. Second only to Kaimetsu if not number one (not counting people who are truly "essential" like Stefan and Unixmad). Moon Goddess radically altered how the forums are moderated and in doing so radically altered the forums themselves. Sure, most of us see her influence as being negative, but it is huge nonetheless. (Sam is far less relevant).

Aftershock gets banned and Kaimetsu doesn't. How is this a draw?

Yes, though not much. A few scripts (i.e. Metris) that are still around were made by Kaimetsu. More important would be how he helped other scripters and worked on the creation of GS2. I don't see how this is relevant when we're talking about influence on the forums.

Beats me. I don't pay much attention to who's staff on servers outside 2K2.

Huh? I am always all about giving full reasoning and backing up arguments with evidence, explaining why they are true (and thus why I believe them to be true), and saying "because Kaimetsu would have said this" is not a justification I have ever used. If I am truly in error it should be possible to demonstrate where my reasoning/evidence is faulty, and not just go "olo ur just trying to b kai".

Which would probably have been possible if he wasn't a moderator already. This 'epic battle' doesn't seem that great.

A person has to be up in order to be taken down.

But Kaimetsu didn't care, he knows win he has won.
He was also in his middle 30s and hung around on a forum for a teen/kids game. Also I would hope he was a great coder because that was his job wasn't it? Wow he sure was a pro at life!
