First Impressions?

So, lately I've found myself hopping from Private server to Private server just to see whats up...Ya know see if there is anything promising in the works. So, I'd like to share with you guys what I come across as I visit new Private servers randomly. (For those of you as well who don't have access this gives you a little peek at some servers as well.)
Note to Forum Admins- I am using my own personal hosting and webspace for all of the content/multimedia that I share with this community so there is no need to worry about attachments or file size.
Secondly, Everything that will be shown has been found by legally by exploring or entering the server and is accessable to everyone who can access private servers. I also understand that Servers are in the works so they are not expected to be at their very best and some of the servers may be working on seperate overworlds than the ones currently acccessable to players, BUT this is the first impression so too bad? Hehe, on that note shall we start? :P

-As of this screenshot the server looks kind of boring. I also don't understand why an UC really needs GPs. I maybe be wrong but I guess first priorities isnt hiring developers. *shrug*

-One of the staff randomly summoned me to an inside level...Err...

(NOTE TO ADMINS-Since I am hosting that link-graal needs not worry about copyright protection seeing as how it is on my site.) (Plus I am not gaining any commercial value by using it as an example, err although the server should still take it off i believe)

-I dont get the blue tree?

-Not real fond of the tileset nor people using tree gfx instead of tiling

-The bottles don't match the rest of the server? =/

Why only post the negative, especially on playerworlds that are under construction? Positive feedback in some way is imperative for self asteem I think.
The first pw isn't too bad for a classic type feel, and the second one is quite good level wise imo.
Not enough info on either one to come to any type of conclusion except level wise to some extent.

I've looked at a lot of playerworlds in development....there's not much positive stuff about them

You can find some positive in most of them, even if it is something small. Positive critisism, and even negative critisism done in a positive way goes a long way a lot of times to give pw owners a little push to do better. Note that this doesn't always work because of some peoples reasons as to why they make a pw, but it can't hurt...

Symphonia used to have some nice levels, dont know what the gmap is like anymore tho

Once again like we discussed via PM you really should learn everything clearly 100% before trying to insult me and only making yourself looked down upon. Anywho I will be posting more later today. Also maybe I am a straight forward guy. It helps more in life. Beating around the bush will only make things half-assed.

The first server is just horrid and probably has no postivies. The second one is ahh rlly dark? O and positive criticism and way less important than negatives. Need to know what you can improve on rather than what is already effin good...to bad I have not seen much good in this thread.

Wait, what? I wasn't insulting you. I was offering some advice to look for some positive input in servers if you are going to do a decent review. I in no way insulted you.

Hmmm when watching private server it is often helping to ask the staff what stuff they can show, there is often things in testing were you need to warp to or needing scripts added to you.

I know i was just doing first impressions to show the stuff you see when you log on X_x. No server was getting special treatment of warping me anywhere XD. Although some did...and i was abused by staff...


Also-Darlene-I'm not doing a decent review. A decent review would involve me walking around the server for hours looking at everything, This is first impressions just afew quick stuff

Did you see anything you like in those servers? Could you post them?

I could post a whole bunch of things I didn't like about servers also, but you should of at least post some good things about them too to make it somewhat fair for people to criticize(sp..).. Doesn't really give a fair judgement to the server.

The second one, though not fond of the tileset, I thought the levels themselves were nice.

UN type feel with nicer levels

-When I first logged onto Faded Nation I saw several people say, "It's him", kinda funny...I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Anyways, the staff I encountered was more than kind enough and willing enough to show off their hard work. I have so many screenshots from this server but I respect servers and don't want to give up all their secrets. It was very difficult narrowing them down but here is what I decided were some "cool aspects"


-I've been waiting for a classic server to do this for awhile now. I know of one other server who also is doing this affect a little differently but I can't say which for privacy reasons. Although on Faded Nation if you dont have this scuba suit you will drown.


-They have all sorts of little NPCs that the players can obtain through various methods. I enjoyed the boxing gloves


-Quite possibly my favorite NPC that they gave me. Its a net gun. You shoot it and well it catches people. I could see where this might become abusive so I suggested that it only be used in certain levels or tweaked a little?


-I had fun prank calling people


-As of right now I also noticed you could be a hunter or a farmer. I chose a farmer for now...it is still being worked on, they told me, but here is the jobstats...I like it, but im wondering how hard farming will be...


-If you ever connect to the server you might see someone running around with a gun. I feared the same thing...Oh no not guns. But they ensured me that they were only going to be used and available in their CS event that they were making. That made me more pleased.

Overall
-Overall I would probably play on this server if it gets released. There are some other cool features such as baking and cutting trees, mining, ect. The levels are decent, they could use a little work here and there but overall I wasnt pushed away because of the levels like I have been before. I enjoyed my visit to Faded Nation and hope to check in on them and hopefully see them progressing.

Its like UN I believe. The only guns they told me would be in their CS event which is okay I believe. No guns will be on the overworld. They have a lot of neat little NPCs which players can collect and use.

Andrew here representing Faded Nation.

It really boggles my mind when people compare us to Unholy Nation, and blast our server simply for being "classic" is there a new rule that I haven't yet heard of, stating that a server can now only be labeled good if it's "modern" or has a fancy tileset? I guess the people who blast servers really don't know what it's like to run a server and create hundreds and hundreds of levels, and spend months and months and months working on things, just to know that someone will enjoy it someday.

I appreciated the visit that Darkvillin took the time to visit our server and review us, and I enjoyed reading the review, we really can't show everything that we have in the server in only 10 minutes, so we showed some of our more fun-stylish things such as our NPC's and our Counter-Strike mini game.

I can assure you this isn't "all we have" as we have our main man Malinko scripting everything, like the god he is. Some of our more notable things you will see later on in our server is:
-Complex Weather system
-Complex Day/Night system
-A train system
-over 8 jobs including: Mining,Fishing,Tree Chopping,Restaurant working,Hunting,Bounty Hunting, etc.
-Enhanced graalat economy
-Enhanced Hat economy
-over 100 usable NPC's
-A unique Cell phone system
-Various fun mini-games, including "Counter-Strike"
-A pet system
-A unique sparring system (which I won't reveal)

We try to differ ourselves from every other classic server, because we attempt to perfect everything we do, from levels, to scripting, to graphics. So please, before you attempt to bash Faded Nation for being just another "classic server" please look past your ego, and try creating your own sucessful server.

The only 2 that really catch my attention are
Mining and Day/Night
but then again, every server has this, almost literally all of them.
Event Ideas? We haven't said any events that we have yet,
other than if you consider "Counter-Strike" an event, which it's not.
but Unholy Nation doesn't have "CS" outside of the crappy event, which has nothing to do with guns at all, or counter-strike for that matter.
