Pixel Art Tournament! Battle arrangements.

The first graal forum pixel art tournament, how it will work is that it will be in battles of 1 v 1.

This thread will be to arrange the battles and explain how it works.

Thats the basic battle sheet, depending on how many people want to be a part of it, so ill make a bigger version.

If you want to be a part of the pixel art tournament please pm me so i can make a list, then ill post the list and organise the battles. If anyone thinks the battle arrangements should be re arranged just post and we can perfect it.

The battle works by the whole community choosing something for the pair to create, then they must use their imagination and skill to create whatever it is, then people vote on the best. The winner will advance further until they meet someone else along the battle.

I really want to get this to kick off as i feel it will be a fun event

Thanks for reading and PM if you want in.
I will give it a day or so for everyone to get the chance to PM me

There will be a prize, the more people that participate the better the prize will be.

I agree, no one ever does anything community orientated anymore.

Good luck to those that enter!

You'll need to be fairly specific when setting guidelines for individual matches.

Well, there needs to be a size limit.
Something like 100 x 100 or 150 x 150 pixels or maybe even smaller. Of course you wouldn't have to use up all that space.

I don't think there should be a color limit, unless someone uses a crazy amount of colors.

I think you should also have to post a zoomed in version of your work as well.

Of course no filters, anti-aliasing, none of that fancy stuff. Just pure pixel art.

You can also do AA, thats not even that hard, and will still count as pixel art.

There also needs to be a time limit... so this thing doesn't go stale. Also you'll have to make sure the entries are submitted privately to you or something... Otherwise if one of the contestants posts their entry publically first, they are at a disadvantage because the other contestant knows exactly what they are up against.

So what's the prize?

Anti-aliasing isn't crazy stuff. I can do it, and I'm a terrible pixel artist.

Ah well spotted koni, and yea the images will be submitted to me. Most of it will work private through me, and then they submit it to my email and ill release on the close date, or if they both send me their work early ill release right away.

For colours i was thinking the 2 artists decide on a colour pallete and work from them, that way people dont go using photoshop tools to improve. Pure pixels.

heres whos PMed me so far.

MYSTERY MAN#1 (7:51 PM):
Why do we have to use attachments?
Stephen says (7:52 PM):
Moonie sez so.
Stephen says (7:53 PM):
No, it's more so for archival. So in a year everyone doesn't see...

HEY! Check out my AMAZING artwork!

The prize really depends on how many people enter, it'll be a good one if we get a lot of entries. At the moment im just seeing whos interested in participating.

So far its pretty lame ammount seeing as theres alot of good artists.

Ahh, it would also be good if the contestants would PM or email or something their entrants to Tom, so that they can be displayed at the same time. That way each contestant won't know what the other did.

Well, I see this thread died out pretty quickly. Just another example of how graal has the power to make you start something and than stop it so quickly.
