Hylian Shield

Yea well, I already posted that on Pixelation, some of you might have noticed it. I was just bored so I decided to pixel the Hylian Shield from Zelda ;>

The first one looked crappy:


But then I improved it:

Nice, but the second one don't look so good with white background ;O

The shading needs to be done a little better. On the second copy, I can see that one side is light and the other is dark. (Half and half) It would be a better idea to take a lighten / darken tool and apply highlights and shadows where appropriate to get elements of your drawing to stand out more. (Like along the metal edges and so forth.)

I hate those kind of tools, I only use MS Paint for my work, but I may try something like that ;>

Im a big fan of Zelda, and this shield does NOT look as good as it should.

I got the idea when playing OOT, so it kinda got its style.

OOT is the second best Zelda, yet I dont think you've successfully managed to get the correct Hylian spirit.

The ones I'd say are best and second best are A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. Link's Awakening and the other gameboy Zeldas had so many awesome quirky things in them, and had a lot of relly original items that I'd like to eventually see worked into newer ones. (Roc's Feather / Cape, Magnet Gloves, Seeds, Different types of companions, etc.)
