Graal Crashing

Graal is sometimes crashing when I am playing an mp3 from my webspace...so there are a few questions...
1. Do you know this problem and maybe how to fix it?
2. Can I somehow force the client to download the mp3 to the Graal folder and check if its already downloaded?
3. Little bit off topic, but who cares...how do I change the downloading folder?(So it will download all the files to a single folder for our server.)

Would be cool if someone could help me out, its kinda annoying ;]

Gambet is on a distinguished road
Change your download folder via RC Options (the first screw driver).

You probably crash when trying to download the mp3 due to the size of the file. There is a restriction to the maximum size an mp3 file can be (might just be a limit on files in general, not just mp3), in which case the mp3 you are trying to access possibly surpasses this.

Have you tried playing it through another medium? Perhaps the file is corrupted.

There were problems before with looped internet streams. When exactly does it crash, when starting to play it, when finishing to play it, or in the middle?

It only crashes _sometimes_ when finishing it.

Then it is eventually that problem with looping streams (crashing once it's trying to loop). Would be interesting to see if it's still happening with the latest version 4.208

If this can be fixed, that would be great.

Do you think there's a possibility that it's crashing due to the fact that it's trying to re-download the same file on loop? If so, creating a folder for temp music in the music folder might be beneficial. Whenever a song loops, scan the directory for whether or not the file exists in the directory so another copy isn't downloaded. Just a thought. :s

I will try it again with 4.208, didnt try it with this version yet. But I like the temp folder idea. Or an option to force players to download it from the URL to their folder. Would be better if that would happen automatically though.

Well, it would also use much less bandwidth. Imagine 30 users downloading a 2MB file from your site. Then imagine them downloading that same song again in the 5 times they log on that day. That's about 300MB of bandwidth used. Not only would it lag them, but it would also run up the bill for your provider a whole lot if their limit for the month has already been exceeded.

I doubt Cyberjouers would love to fork out for that bill when you can just use midi's or get the songs off a site that's already hosting it.

May have so set up a box to streamcast or similar.

When you do that, it doesn't affect Cyberjoueurs' bandwidth, but it does for the site you're leeching off of.

Well, I got a free webspace with unlimited bandwidth, so that wouldnt matter, but it would be useful if it would download it from the site instead of streaming it or w/e.

It's not mainly about bandwidth (on our site), but the problem is that those mp3s might be copyrighted and there isn't an easy way to prove the opposite. Downloading copyrighted material from our servers cannot be tolerated.

Well, I am not sure if its easy for us to prove that we are allowed to use them/they are not copyrighted, I am not the one who gets the mp3s, I only host them on my webspace :P But I was told we are allowed to use them.

I've been talking about bandwidth from other sites, not ones owned by Cyberjoueurs. So long as Cyberjoueurs doesn't keep copyrighted material on its servers, that shouldn't be a concern anyway.
