If you could implement an emulation of NPC server with basic functionality - that would be awsome

It will be a while probably. I still have to implement the script parser, which is required for custom tileset support and double clicking NPCs to edit them. This part is proving to be the most difficult. I also need to set up dragging tiles from the tileset to the level, and a couple other important things. (You can however drag tiles from one part of the level to the other and it will save them)

NPC-Server emulation would be difficult. I am going to try to convince Stefan to enable offline GS2 support though when I get this done.

*shrugs* Be cool if you could work with Stefan on the editor. Like, you make that much, hand it to him, he puts the GScript in it, he's done half the work and can at a glance tell there's no malicious code in the Open Window class, we all get a bloody editor again...

I will most likely be showing stefan the source so he can confirm that there is nothing malicious in it, although the terrible code might scare him

I know Linux has Mono for .NET stuff, doesn't Mono also run on Mac?

Although this probably wont help much since my editor and mono don't get along.

The GO website clearly states Macintosh compatibility, but since the switch to and Intel processor my client lags and, still, I have no RC or level editor.

And then there are all the 'rebels' that hate corporate microsoft but are smart enough to realise all the alternatives suck, so they just use a Mac theme/VisualStyle. How dumb can you get?

Agreed. Rather than waiting for linux and mac compatibility i'd really like to see this level editor as soon as possible. It looks awesome and I'm not usually the one to compliment projects Graal related.

I don't agree with it, but I do understand why the tools and Mac RC stalled and everything's becoming a Scripted Tool. To make an editor is to make an offline, clientside client, is to risk another GServ fiasco. But to integrate it into the client, why that's just another line to port in the main code block...

I'm rambling, my point is that there's little sense from a programmer's standpoint in making an editor that can't compile/run/test the script. What we'd all love is an offline one-client NPC Server emulator. But so would the script kiddies, both to cut their teeth on before messing with the real deal and to reverse engineer into an Online, Multiplayer, Fully Functional NPCServer.

So let's define what we really want.
An editor to tilejockey? Easily done.
To write NPCs? Notepad can do that as well as anything; all the real scripts live in the Join;s anyways.
To check syntax? That'd be trickier, but not by a whole lot.
To debug? That has to be done online, may as well make it a scripted-tool.
To test the scripts? Only NPCServ can truly do that, and I think we all agreee that'll never be released to us.
RC? Well, RC has to be online, why NOT make it part of the client? Like the login screen, part of the whole Choose A #Channel mojo. Then it'll always be available equally to any platform that has a client.

Skinnable clients (and RCs), that'll be the wave of the future....

uhh, good question. I'll add you to the list.

Also, dragging tiles from the tileset to the level works now

You should put together a beta version, release it (maybe to select people), get feedback, and then decide whether or not you want to continue working on it.

If you get negative feedback, then you can either proceed to correcting your mistakes, or just stop with the whole project to not risk wasting your time to produce something uncomfortable for people to work with.

Just a suggestion.

It won't be a waste of time though, because I am learning a lot by doing this.

Can't say when I'll be ready to release a beta or alpha of it. The tile selection system is extremely clunky and sucks, so I want to fix that first. Along with that, there are many ways to crash the program if you don't do things right. Try dragging tiles from the tileset when no level is open and you will see what I mean.

I meant a waste of time in the sense of it being a disappointment to the public.

I can't code well. But if we are still lacking tools, I will.
Although it's too bad the company doesn't upgrade it's own software often enough. Imagine if you had to upgrade you version of Win 98 on your own

Sure, go ahead and yell at Stefan if you think you deserve extra attention, but if you are going to yell at Maniaman for not supporting your retarded platform, you must have a really weird sense of entitlement.

My thought, at the time that I made that post (nearly 3 months ago, by the way) was that Maniaman was making this officially. As in working for Stefan. I have no desire for 'attention', however, it would be nice if Stefan provided the promised services of this game to his paying customers. The very least he could do is make it known to buyers of the game that the mac version has no development tools. At the most -- he could provide the services or offer a reduced price.

I have no soap box, I have no care for yours or anyone elses attention, I simply wish I got what I paid for. I apologize to Maniaman for mistaking his reasoning behind the creation of this tool. I forgot that people still care about this game to develop it for free. If I had the skills, I'd make the mac editor myself - even if I really believe Stefan should be the one to do it.

And honestly, everyone sees through your immature use of the term 'retarded'. Myself and every other mac user playing this game know its a perfectly reasonable platform. Personal attacks do not make your statement any more meaningful.
