Well what you should do is do a rough 1 coloured sillhouette of the animal, then zoom in and touch it up, then colour and shade.. just make it as you would other graphics

make a stick figure of the dog, then add circles and sausages, then detail.

I never could start out with circles very well. I always like to try to take elements of stuff from other artists and incorporate it into my work. Makes it sort of like frankensteined art, but I like it. :}

If you can easily percieve the basic shapes of certain kinds of animals, it makes stuff easier, because a lot of them are recurring throughout species.

I think the three reasons I have trouble drawing animals are 1. I have ADD so it's hard for me to learn new things right away but once I get them I'm normally set. 2. I suck at drawing. 3. I'm a *******.

:/ Don't degrade yourself. You're a cool guy. I thought ADD just made you hyper? :o Anyway. There's no need to outline. If you're excellent at detail which I know you are just make the outline by detailing it. Make details and make them into an outline.

Maybe try drawing out a "wireframe skeleton" first and then basing the animal off of that skeleton.

Wireframe is basically just a bunch of lines that show where the main bones would be in the animal (the spine, skull, and appendage bones).

Yeah, sometimes doing circles and then adding crossing lines helps you outline the form of what you are drawing a little better.

Screw drawing animals; try some insects. Those little critters are evil.
