Shops - bring them back !

In the old days, shop doors used to stay open forever (not close automatically). This allowed someone to have a shop and sell items, without constantly heading over to open the door. There should be a command to designate your house as a "shop", so the door will stay open and not close. Houses not designated as shops will continue to behave as they do today.

Yes, it should be possible to script that.
People have to buy a special approval in the kingdom (where you also have to buy houseflags). And with that you can switch your house into a shop.

Why special approval? You already have to build all the shop tables if you want to make it into a shop, so that covers any extra cost. Just make the doors stay open like Alan said.

Because it would be more real that the kingdoms charge some plats if someone will promote a company.

CP has already obviously experimented with this. Alan opened a shop and there are a couple more that are opening soon run by players. They're a huge hit w/ CP members and other visitors to the island alike. Although it really is a bummer when you finally save up that 8k plat to buy something really neat at alans shop and you have to wait for him to come online and then bother him to go all the way to CP just to open it. Just some testimony from a buyer ^ ^ but ya, I also like the buying the shop flag idea, but it probably shouldnt cost more then 100-a few hundred plat.

Also an idea that might not be so realistic or desirable...perhaps there could be some sort of way to sell you items for something other then plat? Dias would be the obvious example. This might be bad because one of the good things about these shops is that they are definately boosting the value of plat, which is badly needed.

Imagine if there was a NPC to convert plat to diamonds, and diamonds to plat at a set rate (500 plat per diamon?). That would make things fun

Build a house in a kingdom
-make some tradetables (can be made in all kingdoms)
-put them in your house -put your stuff on the tables
-open the door by doubleklicking on the door and announce your shop.

You know that you could just simply have a Houseflag and a Shopflag right there when you get the building deed.

This way you dont have to worry about the rest of it, of course it would bel ike a kit. And you could have other scrolls for shop to house and house to shop. Or some other items.
