mainfiles

Everyone with rc probely had the problem once. Your doing a search queryfor some random file on your server and these annoiying "mainfiles/" appear.

Basicly totaly useless files since we cannont utilize them.

My briliant idea of the day is to disable them so we can actualy preform a proper search query on our servers.

Cause frankly i'm not intrested in classic levels/graphics that do no effect me personaly. They just make it harder for me to check wich files are on a server and they turn a simple search query like /find *tree* into a horrible thing. Due to the ammount of results you get.

There for support me in my crusade to either make a disabling option in server options or cloak/disable by default.

Someone is going to say, "Well, that's what server prefixes are for (ie, UN_, Era_) for all files."

Perhaps only the downloadable mainfiles should appear in the search results.

Thats would be an idea. Cause those levels, text files and so on don't mean anything to most people anyhow. (Seriously who would care for a file such as stefan-contest-winner.txt even excisting it might have been exciting to read back in 2001... but that time is long gone)

and Chris the prefix idea is perfect but than you'd need to be working on a server where stuff actualy happens, not a kind of place where people sit 'n idle talking about how great they are trough rc chat .

Ibonic will become famous soon enough
Just a quick thought:

Maybe there should be some options for the /find command so people can specify what files will be displayed.

For example:

/find -d tree*.* would only show Downloadable images
/find -l tree*.* would only show images that are stored Locally on the server

And they could be combined, such as -dl and whatever other options there might be.

Would be nicer that way. I change my .. whatever you call it.. Ibonics idea is better.
Now for some people to support it so that it gets passed by the right eyes!
