Armoire.

My latest piece, an armoire, from start to finish.

Nice, but do they use one solid same piece of wood to make everything? Shouldnt the doors have a different grain then the rest?

I liked the outline, but the colored version looks like a photoshop brush.

Still, it looks nice.

Oh, and isn't the perspective alittlebit wrong? The top seems to be made so that you can see the back of the curvey thingys, yet the rest of it (front panels) seem to be perfectly infront of you.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, idk much about much.

No, the main cabinet piece is just thinner than the top & bottom.

He means the isometric aspect of it. Which looks wrong to me.

Nice!.. but you should try to use a more natural grain and you took so much trouble to do a nice outline... pixelating a wood grain would be nicer (but hey long live lazy ness)

Thanks everybody.

No, it's not a photoshop texture, I painted the wood on there like that. I am sorry if you don't like the pattern.

Personally I like the perspective, and I think it looks cool.

You painted it on there with a photoshop brush. Either way it's not pixelated and it looks bad. There's 132 different shades of brown there. Totally not needed. Apparently you just made the awful wood texture seperately, and then layed the outline over the texture and erased the stuff around the outline. The wood shouldn't be one solid piece. Each area of the armoire should be seperate wood, and the grain should not flow from one piece to another.

I don't like laziness in artwork. That's terrible. You're supposed to show your abilities in every piece of art you do, not show how badly you can slap together an image.

Also, no matter how much you like the perspective, it's totally not Graal perspective in any way shape or form.

Yes, I used the paintbrush, in photoshop, as opposed to the pencil, which I then used to shade it. For your information, I didn't make the "awful" wood texture seperately, I drew it onto the armoire around the lineart. Personally, I don't see why the grain could not be matching throughout the armoire, considering it's all the same type of wood, but to please you I changed the flow of the grain, and I reduced the wood color variations. I am not lazy, you ass, if I was lazy I wouldn't have bothered to post this here, or make it at all, considering it was originally just an example to show someone how to give depth to one of their images.

Is this better? Ass.

Edit: Rid of black outlines.

Why are you putting everything at an angle? It's like psuedo isometric or something...

It's not supposed to be "graal perspective". Some of us like to be unique and work outside of the box, perhaps that's something you wouldn't understand.

Why the hell does it bother you? Do you have something against a fresh perspective on graphics? At least they don't look flat like most graal graphics.

fresh perspective on graphics?
Come now, I hardly consider changing the angle from which you draw something a revolution, or outside of the box.

It's not revolutionary, but it's different, uncommon, and obscure. Not being a cliche is a good thing.

It's only uncommon on Graal. I'm just saying... what is the point of making them? They serve no purpose other than to show off, and they aren't exactly masterpieces. They would not fit a game at all. You'd have to make characters or something that fit that perspective and that would just be hell. Unless you used 3D characters, and then I'd have to question why you dont' just make 3D furniture.

If it's just to practice drawing at an angle... I wouldn't stop practicing if I were you. Because there's a huge flaw with the armoire. The doors are exactly the same width but if it's supposed to be at that angle, the door on the left wouldn't show as much.

Oh and hey, if you can't handle criticsm, you shouldn't post your graphics. Just a heads up.

The perspective is fine, it's not isometric, it's semi-isometric, and it's not for graal anyways.

Scott, I am not trying to impress anyone, and it's not a half-assed attempt. I am just posting my images, if you don't like it for personal preference, ok, but it's not bad pixel art, so stop jumping down my throat. Furthermore, since when are you so mad at me? I've always had good things to say about your work, even the stuff I didn't particularly like, I could still acknowledge that it was good art.

There is nothing wrong with my door or my armoire, aside from the perspective that so many people are uncomfortable with. I don't mind, it's not my intention to make art you are comfortable with, only that I am comfortable with, so stop using that as a tool for your insults.

Konidias, there is no flaw with the armoire, it's not full isometric, the front face is squared off, after which the 'camera' is meant to show distorted depth, the face is meant to be seen from straight on, while the side holds some isometric similarities. It's not full isometric, so quit trying to point out what you *think* are flaws. They are displayed properly for the perspective I am using. Just a heads up, I can handle critisism, you just don't have any idea what you are critisizing.

Edit:

Window for the house is ready.

Perhaps, Raelyn, that is the perspective you wished to express, but it came out *looking* wrong.

Sometimes if I don't like Scott's work I say, "Hey, that sucked, Scott!"... this doesn't mean I don't like him - it means I don't like his work.

Savvy?

Raelyn, I'm not mad at you. Also, I won't recognize as what your doing as good art, and not just because I don't like it, it's because this whole "perspective" thing isn't working. Please, please, PLEASE go study some isometric stuff before you attempt any more at this project man. ;\ On another note, if you don't like my work, say so. I'm not going to cry or get all defensive.
