RC's and Gold/VIP Accounts

I think that RC's shouldn't have to have a gold/vip accounts. More people would be able to help develop Graal. I'm sure that a lot of good developers don't have a gold/vip account, and aren't able to get RC's to help out Graal because of this.

I obviously agree with this. Mainly due to the fact that private playerworlds will most likely have more developers that don't have Gold/VIP subscribtion. It's a pain to have developers work without an RC. You constantly have to make sure that their files from the playerworlds are updated.

I doubt Graal will lose a 'major' profit. Money from Playerworld Hosting is still being paid for.

This suggests you heard someone, probably close to the top, say that Gold/VIP only RCs might happen?

No, I didn't . I'm suggesting that you shouldn't have to have a gold/vip account to get an rc on a server that you'd normally have to have a gold/vip to play on. You don't need a gold/vip account on a classic rc, but you do need it on a private playerworld rc.

I would agree, there is no reason people should have to have gold/vip for an RC, maybe to get on player at the most, but not an RC. Oh and matt I don't think they would lose any profits by doing this, I think they would gain a profit, based on the simple fact that the more development on graal and more servers, the more the game will be played, and the more its played, the mor epeople will buy P2Ps so they can get the benifit of being able to save thier game. So I think in the long run graal would profit from this.

Oh and btw, you need to fix you poll question:
Do you think you should have Gold/VIP to get an RC?

should be:

Do you think you should have to have Gold/VIP to get an RC?

I know plenty of people who upgrade their account simply for the fact to work on a private playerworld.

Not all of them, some just work simply for the fact to work and hardly logon the client.

The question is flawed; the obvious answer is 'no'. There are several classic servers which do not require VIP/Gold access to work at (or even play at).

There's no point working for a playerworld that you can;t go on yourself. You need to be able to go on client to personally inspect your work.

Waisting my post per day in hopes Stefan sees this thread and puts his two cents in. The question should be "should a person require Gold/VIP to use RC on pivate playerworlds for development".

If this was enabled, it is possible that account sales could drop, but it is also possible that players will buy more seeing as they don't have to worry about keeping staff members, and attracting new developers is easier.

Yes I know, and they would lose that income, but I think the new improvements and quicker development would bring more all around players to playing Graal and more trials would see something they liked and purchase a VIP. So Yes they would lose funds in one area, but I think they would gain more then they would lsoe in other, making a profit...

Oh and what you said about not needing to log on just working. Thats true, unless testing something online, or inspecting something and viewing updates on the OW, I am rarely on... just as easy to work off the RC.

Surely more players would buy VIP because they need it for RC/Playerworlds, not because they don't need it for such things?

People won't soley pay for a VIP or GOLD just to work on a server. It's more of a bonus which people don't even bother taking account for.

That's illogical. People suck at developing (for the most part). Why would you want more people on RC? It's just making Graal look bad.

They're dev servers that no one sees nor will ever see.

They're on the serverlist (on rc). If that was the case, admis would just have a bunch of non-devs idle on the server so people would see the server and ask for jobs. I say if you want to develop buy a VIP.

Thats not what I was saying Spark... yes you might lose some money when it comes to people upgrading VIP, but like Crono said most people won't upgrade it for that, its just one of the perks.

I was saying that the faster development goes, and the more themes/new playerworlds new players have to choose from, the better the chances are of them finding something they like and pay for a regular p2p to play. So you might lose money on VIP but in the long run you would probably make some, the game would become bigger, which would hopefully draw more people to it.

Why should I have to upgrade an account to work constantly, putting all that time and effort into something so that Stefan can make even more money marketing MY product. Developers should be able to use RC on any playerworld.

Thats what I was saying, without people developing graal it would be dead, so why should we pay to keep someone else's game alive and making them more money. But I still say that if they removed this and more things got done and developed graal would get bigger and in the end they would be making more money.

Your using Graal Onlines system to create your work, so it's not just YOUR work, right?

By the same respect writing html or php for a website is not just your work because another protocol you did not write from scratch yourself comes in, right?

Making a 3d graphic using 3ds means it is also 3ds's work because you are using their services...Right?

Wrong, Something about all these situations seem flawed at best. The GO system is just tools to create things, by no means what-so-ever is the time and effort put into the stuff GO or anyone elses work for that matter, except the person who took the time out to do it. GOs work lies in the fact they made the programs to make stuff, not what is made with them.

I havent seen a new classic server in years.*

This is probably because the whole process has become slow, not fun, and it feels like a grind to develop.

Expecially when you buy the server, and if you cant get it through the slew of politics and pwa to get it classic, then people actually have to pay if they want on. Otherwise you paid 60/100 or so dollars for a server that boasts a superior 0 playercount.

Giving people a reason to want to develop, that is what graal lacks severely.

*Note: New does not include revamped old, for anyone who might try that thing, i mean something completely new.

Anyone notice how bad the majority of new servers are? Opening up RC wouldn't improve that at all.

Yes it would what the hell are you talking about. If more people could be hired without having to pay for VIP or Gold, then more development would get done and at a quicker pace. I know a lot of great NAts and LATs that would work on a server but they don't want to pay for a VIP just for that, and they shouldn't have to.

Oh and yea and I haven't really seen any good classic servers come out in a long time...

I had a really good desire to finish what i started and attempt to finish a playerworld to go classic, but it seems that the politicing it takes to earn a spot like that, doubled with the fact you now have to pay for a CHANCE (mind you, unguaranteed, because you paid for it not everyone can play it yet).

There has not been a new one in ages, yes i will stand by the claim of years.

The fact is like i said before, there is just not enough on graal to make someone want to finish.

Development when it was fun back on EL, it will never be like that again, but that made me want to develop.

Its the same way with everyone, they have this idea, it starts on graal, its all good. They start working, they get excited and...Then they move on.

Its not really about what you can do anymore, but just who you know.
