I do not claim total accuracy on these events or the order in which they appear. I can recall things I left out but have no idea of where they fit in at all. My memory is fuzzy on this, so I'll try my best:
-I was looking for more information on the new Zelda 64 game that was coming out soon. I was excited, as I loved the Legend of Zelda series and there was going to be, for the first time, a 3D version. I believe once I typed in a search engine "Zelda Online", looking for an Zelda 64 information online (as in on the internet). I stumbled upon a neat little java game that looked like Zelda for the SNES. The neat part was there were other people on there. They tried to shoot arrows at me, but the arrows were really slow, so you could dodge them. Because I only had a 28k modem, stuff was slow, so I didn't really play this too much. I believe this started sometime in '98.
-One day, I noticed a link on the website with this game, that link being GraalOnline.com. I registered an account and started playing it. It had a slightly more active community.
-On Main Server, the first guild I almost joined was a guild *JasoX was trying to make. People were different in Graal back then. I was a newbie, but that was a cool thing. He approached me and asked me if I wanted to join his guild or wanted help with anything. His guild requirements were that one had to wear only black or gray or combinations of those colours. I ended up not joining after I couldn't find him anymore.
-I started playing on these fun playerworld things, using programs called GServers that came with the latest Graal version. I played on Damasca, Odin, and a little bit of Bravo Online. I also tried a little bit of Mantara (through Stefan's brother Matt's house) and Khalaria (you entered it through main world down in some swamp I think).
-I found out that my friend, Hylian, at Zelda-Temple (where I used the alias 'Culex', because I really like Mario RPG :P) also played GraalOnline. We talked about it and such, and eventually we got KawaiiSaRia of Zelda-Temple to try Graal. She later had amazing success as a graphics person, I believe.
-I became very interested in Graal levels. I was very amateurish though, ignoring putting mailboxes (with the grass on the tile edges) over sand tiles. I became friends with Bar Giora, Ange, and Zero33 of the LAT on Main Server. With their aid, I eventually got a lot better with levels, and it became my interest.
-I briefly joined the Shadow Dragons, who at the time were really important for playerworlds and such, as they had many npc's available for download. My time there was brief because they shut down and disbanded shortly after my joining.
-Graal Online started to host playerworlds itself, making many traditional GServers shut down to use the newer Graal engine. My friend, Richard, whom I had known in real life and introduced to Graal, tried getting me to join various levels teams. Eventually, he landed me spot of Head LAT (Head of the LAT I guess) for a server awaiting going online, Dolphonia. Dolphonia was made by Delph Inc. and Delta. There I remet KawaiiSaRia, for she was GFX Admin there. Dolphonia was really nice and I gained much experience from that. Unfortunately, Ghost_Hacker well, hacked it.
-I had joined the Main Server LAT. My time was brief, as I enjoyed an administrative position better and got really bored with the LAT job. I liked having the creative power. I really prefer macromanagement to micromanage.
-I had played on Damasca, when it came to GraalOnline's servers. Unfortunately, it shut itself down, refusing to aid GraalOnline (previously GraalOnline had released the GServer for everybody to use, but later said it was "illegal" to use it and went around shutting GServers).
-I started hanging out at a forum called AllGraal. Others that were there included Bhala, KawaiiSaRia, Kaimetsu, and DarkCloud.
-I joined the Main Server LAT again, thinking I could try to work on the team this time. I worked on a pyramid quest, but then left afterwards.
-I started trying servers and stuck with Mithica for awhile. Soon enough, Graal was going p2p (it was project NewMain's coming. We did not know at the time one day Graal would be completely p2p). I was protesting this on Mithica until the end.
-I started playing on a beta world called Sanstrata. It was a lot of fun, and eventually I got a position on the LAT. I was charged with more responsibility and thus creative power than I had for Main Server. Eventually I became Assistant Levels Admin (the Levels Admin being Sabin who was also Owner). When Sabin left, Prozac became owner and I became the Levels Admin.
-Sanstrata was eventually hacked, and rather than put up the old levels, new levels were worked on. A lot of chaos happened and I personally didn't like the new Sanstrata.
-Sanstrata ended up being shut down. I played on Main Server until they announced it was going to be full p2p. I left.
-A year or two after I had left Graal, Crono AIM'ed me to tell me to help with something. I updated Graal and went to Delteria, as he had requested. I found the pk'ing fun, now that I had a cable modem (not the 28k I had before). I ended up staying, just to pk. Eventually, somebody upgraded my account for me. I had a bit of fun for a year and a half, but I left Graal to work on my own game project, Everworld. I pretty much don't care for GraalOnline anymore. I liked the community, I don't like the product. |
