To Reset...or Not

didnt know what thread to put this in so i will put it in both.

After two + years of Graal Kingdoms being in developmental stages it is that time. With the release of the completed alchemy system the server should be more then prepared for a reset. From bugs to level...to bugs to get things for free (yes even not playing GK anymore i still know about that) the server has been steadily twisting down hill with its equality for players. the people who do these things are punished...well not all of htem. but the ones who get caught for the most part are repremanded. but is it really enough. the items they traded off are still out there. the money they traded off are still out there. same wtih stacked brutals. still a mystery to most including myself as to the true origin of these, they still have caused a neusance. The un-numbered amount released into the hands of player in itself is a reason for reset. Yes i understand there are people who have not played a part into these abuses but still the number of people who have knowingly or unknowingly is far too great. then there is the problem with people who have..bought items USD. a problem for them very but on that same note even though some of them are dear friends of mine there is a reason it was asked not to be done just in case something like this happened where u lost your bang for your buck. but none the less i think most will agree when i say its time for a reset and just to see imma put a poll....before u vote think about the server not yourself. if u are as good as u claim to be by being legit then u can get back to where u are...

Some folks want it, and i'm sure you will see more folks wanting to keep what they have no matter what, so this will be quite a large topic, Stefan having once said himself "there will not be a reset" it would take alot of folks to change his mind.

If stefan is strong on his choice NOT to reset GK, it may be a bad idea to keep working on G3d...really, GK was the newest server and it took this long to iron out the major bugs and glitches and the are still minor bugs, imagine working like that a second time.

Your working with all new ideas and even though i'm no expert i can see the bugs and glitches from miles away, there will always be something there that one person will suddenly find and that leads to that one person having the advantage until you fix the bug or glitch.

I remember hearing of the tree seed bug, Alchemy a single seed and you got a balm worth 290 or so plats, things you don't think about will jump out at you. Trust me.

I suggested this two years ago. Failed.
It wont happen but it should happen.

After the reset 2k2 needs to be fixed by going back to Alpha stages. Three swords, kung fu, a bamboo rod, various daggers, and shields. Of course add the other stuff like armor (regular like chain and plate) and magic stuff and bows.

Sadly 2k2 Alpha was 2k2's Golden Age... it's peak of perfection. Last I heard the Alpha stage is NOT supposed to be where it reaches the top. After Alpha ended it all went downhill.

Another sad thing is that one of those downhills was the ill-selection of the Zormite Emperor.

I voted no because it causes people to quit. I've seen it before. Besides, it's not fair for someone to play so many hours to get good items and then have the server reset. It's just not right. I know you think it's like, "Oh, we can start all over again!" but it's not. It just gets boring when you have to do all the hard work all over again.

And it's not fun to have such an unbalanced server.

If people quit 2k2 because of a reset then we should reset it when we get 2k1 back online

Well, maybe it's unbalanced because some people put more time into Graal, and whats wrong with that? And, I played 2k1 before and didn't like it, so yeah, I wouldn't go there.

Reset might cause a lot of things to happen .

It could be useful though, for organizing more things on GK and what not.

Though, it's a mainstream server, people pay money to play, so who knows. Would be fun for more people to get into the game again.

umm no. it people quit because of the reset then something would be wrong. like i said. i have been here longer then most people that still play this server and it would make me come back. it would make alot of people come back tot he server that have quit because of the illegal things that have happened over the years. if you chose to quit then bye. same with anyone else who quit the server. GK will still have 80 people on at it peak hours. and people who dont play will come because now they wont feel over powered by everybody with items..

Well, to tell you the truth, a reset wouldn't hurt me much, but still it would be unfair to reset without the consent of EVERY user with any gold on their account, and we all know that's not going to happen.

Well, I doubt Stefan will reset anyway. He has said already that they don't plan to reset. Let's wait for the man himself to voice his opinion.

A reset will not help increase RP, therefore, a reset is not necessary.

Not a single person said a word about RP here, So why have you brought it up? This is about dealing with a server that only recieved constant updates, patches and whatever, and like an old coat it's not very useful anymore.

Stop covering the mistakes because the effects are still there!

Because the main focus for 2k2 was supposed to be roleplaying.
That's why I brought it up.

Well it seems so out of place in this post to speak of role playing, this is a post about having a reset for a server that seems to never have left alpha stages, not a single person is worried about what the server needs to be about, a select few that are losing interest have decided to speak up about the bad things GK has such as all the bugs and glitches that may or may not have been abused and corrected already, and i'm pretty positive the few that did use those bugs or discovered a way to get where they are now all while being just manipulative creeps all along will be the only ones shouting that they don't like the idea of a reset.

It's understandable, they used all forms of scams, backstabbing skills, and even social status to get everything easy and say what they can to make themselves look good to keep all of it. With a reset only those that truly ARE hardcore will wind up with good items.

Maybe give a warhammer to everyone and top of the line gear for all new folks landing on main, then you only have to get maps and levels to be just like everybody.

I beg to differ.
A reset will not make people RP anymore than they do now.
In fact, all I see it doing is making the people who had everything and lost it, just go back to getting it back. Even without bugs and glitches, (which there most likely still are), it will eventually just go back to the same uneven state between players, at which time, they will most likely call for a reset again, because conditions are "unfair".

I'll revise then

Reset + Remodel = RP

thats what im saying. all they do is cover up the mistakes but leave the effects. they need to get rid of the effects and reset the server.

i will have to say something against this as well. if most will remember. hammers war hammers that were first distributed were supposed to be 1 of each and only one of each. as was the same with most event items. they were all evented all in singles. i think one of the few event items that were actually evented off original in more then one was diamond force inferno and war axe... which were still limited (atleast inferno and war axe were) and phoenix gear there were two sets besides konidias set...Sorc shield there was only one...and that was Ed's and he chose it instead of orc shield which everyone else picked that won the 3 other events...it was a spar event for levels and class if im not mistaken. but ya. if u restarted the server and put items the way they were originally made to be it wouldnt be unbalance. yes levels would differ for those who actually put time into leveling the legit way will progress faster than others but no one will have 250 stacked brutals to get 30 levels off of. so it wont be serious leveling. it will be hard to level like before they even made maps >.> i miss those days before maps the highest levels were in the 20s...i miss boukon. any ways ya. RP died because of all the pk. if nations were ran properly and royalty actually enforced RP policies. then RP would ocme back. but no. the leaders dont do that. so RP does not happen. if u want to restore RP then kingdoms need to be re evaluated and if necessary re assigned to new leaders.

I fail to see how it's covering up mistakes when I say that a reset will not fix the real problem with the server, which is the lack of roleplaying, for which the server was originally intended.

You're very optimistic for someone that plays Graal.

Most of what you described in there were actions of staff, and not related to the game mechanics at all. (Additional copies of items, stacked maps, etc. ) If you believe that similar things wouldn't eventually happen if the server were reset, then you are naive.

I thing there should be a reset but only AFTER more care is taken to balance the game and bugs are fixed.

I don't know if its just the style of game that I like best differs from the style of graal or if graal needs work, but I personally don't like the idea that new footsoldiers in a military are expected to have (because game mechanics support it) ancient legendary mithril armor and religious artifacts of great might. I am glad alch as finished because it takes those rare items out of the USD-only circuit but now if you want a rare artifact you just need to dig in a pot.

Another factor is that with all monsters easily defeatable by lvl 25 the only challenging thing is pvp pking and being half way good at that requires total focus on maxing out game mechanics.

Right now it won't matter if there is a reset, it will just take time to unbalance itself again and we'll be here once more in 6 months.

What needs to happen for a reset to work - I think - is that lower level players and mid level players need to be able to have a stronger role in kingdoms in general and be able to 'adventure' in the lands in a rewarding way so that while it becomes harder to lvl it is just a part of greater activities and not repeative kill-mining on maps.

I bet that 90% of the xp most players have was gained by fighting monsters that were no challange to beat other than large amounts of time. Either you mine xp on maps, mine maps in the HHs, or mine plat for maps in various cash raising proceedures.

My opinion is that a reset can erase the effects of the game being unbalanced, but it can't change the fact that it is unbalanced and till it is balanced it really won't do any good in the long run.

i know it would happen again. that swhy i suggested something to fix that. a log of dropped and created items that are off limits to staff besides Stefan. that way. when something is created and given out....say....10 stacked brutals...then 0o0o you just lost your create item right.... just as well as logging the set attributes.... this all can be logged...and it should be. unable to be edited by staff so they cna be caught in their wrong doings and be punished....

Ok, now folks are talking RP, here are my suggestions to encourage it.

1) Make a level cap? Since it's pretty easy to find a few maps here and there reaching level 35-40 sounds good.

2) Do some very heavy thinking and remake ALL the stats on items, some of the best should only come from high levels of alchemy or any god and not events.

3) Remove ALL skill scrolls, this is just common sense, or just don't have the option to select a class at all, if you want to leave those in the mix, make the price very high or a tough quest for them.

4) Go play on val for a few weeks, or some online RP chat room, i'm not kidding here either, lots of folks can't or will not RP (I can't as it seems akward in a graphical game, shame on me for not trying harder).

If i think of something else i'll post here.

Tah, how can you complain about how "unfair" USD sales are, when you scammed Brad in a USD Sale?

Reset GK, too many reason's to say why. For those who leave, will come the remarkable return of great players such as I, DragonX, GhettoChild, possibly (if unbanned) GhostPirate! Think of what we could do with a near corrupt-less server! Well, don't, you might splurge and realize it's all a fantasy.

I just noticed that yet another usless update was added to GK, how many more do you have planned? And when will you shut GK down for good?

For a server that was made, as some folks like to claim "for RP" it sure has let everyone down in more ways than one.

How to say this...make a special script for the monsters, as your levels go up, the monsters get stronger also, so if a level 15 player is getting a bit of trouble from a lord, a level 90 would have the same ammount ot problems killing the same lord, that could make things a bit more exciting.

(also have more EXP given depending of the monsters strength+your level)
