Paying for your Playerworld

If you actually think it through, this could be a GOOD thing. Some of you may be jumping the gun a bit here. Think about it. You don't know how much the monthly fee is going to be, and you don't know how much profit you can make yet.

Who knows, perhaps your pw will actually make you money. I'm sure it wouldn't be an outrageous price to pay each month, and if you have a GOOD QUALITY SERVER, then it shouldn't be a problem, and you should actually earn money for what you have been doing for free.

I think the people that are concerned are the people that have low quality pw's and just don't want to put forth any effort into making them good enough so that they actually attract players. I mean, as of now, your playercount really didn't matter, because whether people were there or not, didn't make any difference. Now if you have a PW that has 10 people on at it's peak times during the day, you're going to have problems.

I'm 100% FOR this new idea, because it will improve the quality of playerworlds dramatically. It will get rid of the crappy PW's and make way for PW's that can actually hold their own and pay for themselves. It's more professional as well. If you want to run a playerworld, get together a good team of staff, and heck, if you make enough money, you could even pay them as well.

I agree with you 100%, but no one is sure on how the thing will work, even Unixmad. Unless you know something we don't.
We don't know if it will be all PW's to pay? Or just new ones?

Anyway, I agree with you, and if he does it as paying for a dev server, it will give people an opportunity that otherwise might not of had time to take it slow and develop online. Although time will equal money.

It's a bit of a mixed blessing, this new scheme. On one hand, you could potentially cut out the playerworlds nobody visits, which saves bandwidth, which saves money, which means everywhere else stays up. Which is undoubtedly a "whoo-hoo".

But on the other hand, what about the great playerworlds with cheap - or unable to pay for whatever reason - players?

A lot of Graal people simply won't pay more for the same content. That's why we lost a lot of players through Ghost and Trial modes - they were saying "Hey, give us money to keep what you have". As I pointed out then, and as I'll point out again now, incentives are better than punishments for attracting players.

* Edit: Now I realise that you'll be able to donate part of your subscription to a certain server, this seems like a surprisingly good idea.. :P

lol, I see no way of making a profit...all this time admins have said and even stefan and unixmad has said that it wasnt the playercount that mattered, I have lived by that since I became manager of npulse after a bunch of people left because we strictly abided by the rules, now it seems that we will have to slack up on the rules just so we get more players like UN, and I'm not going to trash UN, but everyone knows they are slack on the rules, always have been...It wont matter what we do with the levels or whatever, people dont want to play on npulse because we are strict, follow the rules to a tee...I see that has to change now, and I am not happy with it at all, this is making a 180 change

I think Konidias probably knows more about this new PW thing. Perhaps these are hints of things to come that he is leaking out?

Well people make money off everything such as websites and servers if alot of people use them. So if lots of people play your PW and connect via that IP server Stefan/Unix may get a reward for so many people using it which they could pass onto you. and Even if you dont make a profit if alot play your PW then you wont have to pay as much/at all. So Playercount will help alot.
