Event Coin Shop Revamp
Hey everyone. I'm working on a big listing of stuff that should go in a new Event Coin Shop. I want to know everyone's opinion on this, so please vote in the poll. I'm busy working on the other ingredients the items will require to make, so if you have suggestions for my list, post them here. I will post the list when it's done.
Also, if there's any work needing to be done, should this idea pull through, I'm game. Again, I don't know if this would even happen, but no harm in trying, I suppose. :] Oh, and a question for Bjorn: Should I use items listed in the LIB website? |
Is this using pre-existing items?
|
I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but I don't think that you can assign an EC value based strictly upon an item's rarity or stats. You have to factor in both if you want the game to maintain balance. Even though it's somewhat difficult, I feel that's how it must be done, even if there is a gray area. Plus, if you need any help, I will be more than willing to lend a hand.
Also, my name isn't Björn, but yeah, you should base a lot items off of Björn's site. Although there exist several items that are not listed on the site that should maybe be added to the list. Again if you need help with those items, I do know some of them. Awesome idea to whoever came up with it ;) |
I didn't come up with it, but it stemmed from my thread! Wooh!
|
Well I knew that Sam was throwing around an idea about an EC shop, but I'm not sure if he was taking this direction with it.

In all honesty, it's very good to hear that.

Stats, there is no rarity in an item everyone can get.
|
Well, if you are going to base item's value strictly upon stats, then perhaps the shield of the moon should be worth 4 RoWs considering it's 1337 stats. I mean the few other strength shields are worth a lot, and have worse stats.
Then again, that's just me Quote:

I think that rarity is going to be a negligible thing once the new shop is made, though. Nothing in my listings is going to be over 50 coins, because that in itself is about 1000 diamonds. To consider both at the same time would be tacking on extra ECs to items that really don't need it.
|
We need to watch out, this could cause a massive inflation in the price of ECs. There is nothing to say that ECs will stick at 20 diamonds each. We'll either have to increase the amount of ECs given out in events or perhaps create other ways in which to get them (regular events with regularized time schedules? rare monster drops?
Perhaps have skeletons, rexs, and dievels (or *gasp* a new monster?) drop them at half the rate of brutals? |
wounds pretty cool, I'm game, so ehh, will it have all the stuff the old EC shop have and then some in it??

As long as the EMs are doing their jobs, there shouldn't be a problem. We have a very Good EM manager right now, as opposed to no EMs doing anything a few months ago.

Yayyy Sam. and Yayyyyy us.

can someone explain to me whats so important about rare items? i've been here for almost a yr and a half, and this **** still confuses me...
a Ring of War = Good stats so there's a big price, and there not so "rare" a red wizzy = 400 dias and has the same stats as a black wizzy, but the black wizzy is 300 dias cheaper I really don't see what's so important about "rare" items. You guys get way to cought up in a game -_- 'Rare' items sometimes look good, and most of the time suck ass stat wise. But all of the good fighter gear is only 100 dias?? I think it's hella dumb doing something like: "Here's 6 of my RoW's that boost me up in every stat, for your sword just because it's rare" -_- Graal itself is like this, not only kingdoms...so someone wanna explain this to me? |
More than anyone else in the GK community, I want to know what Bjorn thinks of this.

My conclusion is that an item is rare if only a selected few have that item, otherwise it's not exactly rare as the average Joe will also receive one. |
It's like designer clothes. You pay more for them because they're, uhh, cooler?
|
Great idea. I know i havn't been happy with winning a event for a few years..winning a EC after a long event that you had to put alot of effort into doesnt seem worth while without a nice prize at the end.
Just make sure the hardcore items that you will no doubt put in are expensive and also a system that makes sure EM's can't steal the coins..there have been a couple of cases in the past. |

Well, Sam has us give him a detailed run down of what events we run and has to refill our prizes bags himself, so he would have a general idea of whether or not you were abusing the system. I don't doubt that skimming off the top isn't possible though, and wouldn't complain if other systems were implemented.

If everyone's trying to get good in the game then why get something that doesn't have good stats? Quote:
So i think that this coin shop should be put into the game. This way it won't effect the new players. (Think of how long it will take a new player to get a Ring of War, and then you guys wonder why people scam :whatever: ) My point being, not everyone likes spending HOURS AND HOURS on a game just so they can get 1 item... |

A lot of people do though. |

No one expects anyone to spend hours and hours mining to get anywhere. It's just a starting point. That's how I started, I spent my first 100 hours of play mostly mining and making friends and getting involved with a kingdom. I kept the diamonds, put the other minerals into sacks and sold them as house kits for 15 diamonds or so, made my first couple of hundred diamonds and before I knew it I had leveled my physical to like level 10 just from mining. So 100 hours deep I had about 200 diamonds worth of gear, I was like level 15, and was already in a kingdom. That was all a helluva lot of fun. I've also never mined since (minus a few times for my kingdom)
|
Sayian, you talk about how this new event shop is going to help the new players. I'm pretty sure that a newbie isn't going to log on to GK and be able to afford the 30 ECs to make an RoW without spending a lot of hours attempting to get diamonds.
This Event Coin shop doesn't really do anything for the new players of GK... |

What it helps, I think, is the 'middle class' of GK. Assuming we attribute 'class' to number of hours, which I think is relatively applicable, this addition will be really a huge help to those members with between, lets say, 250 and 1200 hours. That's a BIG portion of the population, and to please them ensures you'll have oldbies and mega oldbies alike in the future. These are also the people who are active in kingdoms, helpful to noobs, and generally do things on Kingdoms besides idle in the trade house. This will stimulate their gameplay and keep them out of the trade room for longer. (I also happen to be a member of that time group!)
The availability of items previously thought to be unattainable by this group will give them much more reason to stick around to promote the game. |
How's this for a suggestion? Instead of having every item in the evnt coin shop, set up a table, whith like 4 items on it, but the items are not actuaslly items, they are a bag, or something of the like, which sells for 1, 5, 10, or 20 EC. You pick whichever bag you want, buy it, and a random event item is inside, the more you pay the better chances you have of getting a good item. (.5% chance of Inferno Dagger for 1 EC, and like 2-3% for like 20 EC). Just a sugestion

Plus, you saying 1000 diamonds is a strictly relative term, because you have no idea yet the affect of the new event coin shop on the inflation on the price of Event Coins. |

The thing is, though, that nobody has control over the value of any items right now. You could say an item is worth tons, and if you get enough believers, it will become that price. It shouldn't be that way. |

With that being said, I still like the idea. And because I saw you say Spiked Shield, are all items going to be available? |
