TribulationStaff 08-04-2003 03:09 AM

Is the npc a database NPC or on a gmap?

Chrisz 08-04-2003 03:19 AM

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that, its a db-npc and no gmap ;p

Python523 08-04-2003 04:44 AM

As far as I know, canwarp2 is for large level links, canwarp is for smaller ones (such as doors).

(Whoops, I had it just backwards. ^_^;)

Chrisz 08-04-2003 04:51 PM

mmm.. putnpc2 :D I'll try that..

erk.. ¬.¬

Tried canwarp2 and putnpc2, does canwarp2 actually read the links or go like level_a-1.nw etc etc?? :S Its all wrong :|.. lol

(Putnpc2 has the exact same effect as canwarp2 dont go beyond the link :(...)

Why does nothing work properly?!?! :(!... Even if we had... like some kind of way of reading warps.. i'd be able to make my own canwarp, but noooo.. :(

Projectshifter 08-04-2003 09:05 PM

Is it just for outside level connections? Or is it also for inside levels? If it's for outside, you could always check the x/y and have it warp accordingly, but I was sure that putnpc2 would work fine =x

Chrisz 08-04-2003 09:24 PM

Outside, and err.. check x/y etc etc. but our levels are all weird and random like.... era_present-###.nw o.o; Maybe its time we used the alphabet system.. era_a-1...etc? or is there a simpler way? :O

Projectshifter 08-06-2003 08:37 AM

You can easily make a GMAP. Do it in the traditional style of a generated map but add the folowing:
NPC Code:
LEVELNAMES
"name","name","name"
"name","name","name"
LEVELNAMESEND

You make it just like a regular map. And if it's on a GMAP, then problem solved. Or is it needing to go inside?

Gmap = bad o.o; Every gmap on Era just lags :P, too many trees or something.. i *may* try my 3rd gmap ;p

in what way is a gmap bad??

MysticHasteP2P_2 08-08-2003 02:50 PM

Era levels = 90% Tree NPCs (not 1 npc using showimg, like 10 ~ 30 Trees per level, Its just Wrong.

So if you take 40 * 9
(~
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
~)

You've got something in the range of ~300 trees being drawn at once.

Unless I'm retarded, I think gmap runs scripts from all levels around you and everthing in the levels.

I don't connect levels on Era, 56k + Era = Lagtastic.

(Of course I have about as much insight into the graal engine as a drunken monkey)

Chrisz 08-08-2003 04:42 PM

....showimg.. are you kidding me? You want me to have retarded walk through trees?? ¬.¬.... Anyway showimg lags just as much as making an npc with an image.. ;x

And gmaps on Era are bad kai... x.x;

Then you're using them incorrectly.

Thought 08-09-2003 02:00 PM

Actually no, using a gmap on Era would increase the lag, probably by a tenfold.

What's your reasoning?

Chrisz 08-09-2003 06:31 PM

Trees! :O lol

Thought 08-09-2003 10:53 PM

Kaimetsu, you've never noticed all those trees in the levels while walking around?

Why would they cause lag? A small amount of clientside slowdown, perhaps, but that's a different thing.

Golbez 08-10-2003 05:05 AM

Graal 3000 has a gmap and they have loads of bugs on it, Stefan couldnt even find the problem. He said there are bugs with them but he has some much stuff to do it will be about a month or two before its fixed :(
