Shell bomys from digging

Shell bomys from digging should seriously be taken out... it's a plain hastle with any event involving bury bags... and it is exploited as an annoyance to other people.

Tyhm 02-22-2003 10:26 AM

Or shifted to just the beach.

Selzar 02-22-2003 11:24 PM

Digging bomy's was made because people had found a bot that would dig AUTO so they put in shell diggers.
Someone suggested this nOT stefan...

maybe it should be changed to, if a person repeatedly digs in the same spot, not digging in general, like, if you dig ten times in one spot, it pops up. That way, it won't screw up events, and for the being exploited as a weapon thing...AFK people should be indoors!! And don't auto-pray.

someone died because of this [Ed]
=(

If you stand and dig in only place for more then 5 seconds you will just stop getting things?

Kaiser2 02-23-2003 08:07 PM

ah....what do you mean?

Tyhm 02-23-2003 08:11 PM

Shell bomies ruddy HURT now! I nearly got wiped out by one while FARMING, of all things...sad when you can't even farm without heavy armor...

zell12 02-23-2003 08:19 PM

You should only dig up shell bomies on sand.
But if you dig in one spot for more then 3 seconds or so, you won't get anything.

Kaiser2 02-23-2003 08:43 PM

When getting wood for stuff, I just dig in the same place repeatedly to get seeds...

I think this idea is the best one, it stops them from being on grass and prevents auto S users

zell12 02-24-2003 01:28 AM

Well, now, people go to zormite or something and get water... x.x

I think that you shouldn't be able to dig in the same spot and continually find seeds. Doesn't make sense ..

.. but I think you should still be able to dig up shell bomies, but only on the beaches. In the grass .. perhaps if you dig too much in one spot, you dig up a battle potato?

Kinatt 02-24-2003 06:35 AM

it would be too easy to get money then lockeboy cuz they drop mandrake roots

That's true. It was just a thought, anyway.

Another reason against shellbomy digging:

I can dig until I get a corn seed, take my watercan to the well 4 times per seed, grow my corn and water it carefully (3 times), take it to the mill, roll it into dough (with the 4th water), blow a coal for every 3-6 loafs cooking it, and wind up with a few 250-food, 3 kg loaves...

Or I can dig up a shell bomy, cut it in half, and get a 200 food, 6 kg meat in roughly 1/50th of the time and effort, without wasting a coal.

The problem here:
In the beginning, there was no food, and there was much starvation, and it was bad. And the masses cried out, Give us more food!, and Stefan said 'kay, and made wolves drop food, and later arms, and legs, and made mushrooms and potatoes and edible feet (which are as nourishing as mushrooms...), and those that could kill easily did not want for food. And he made Bile and Amulets of Sustenance, and Priests and the Rich did not want for food either.
And then the masses, spoiled from the availability of food whenever and wherever they need it, cried out Hey, there's no food on the Kingdom Islands!, paying no attention to the long-neglected windmills, wells and bakeries. And Stefan said 'kay, and gave them shell bomies to eat. And they were grudgingly content, but the farmers were screwed, as bread's soo not worth it.

I have to agree

Kaiser2 02-25-2003 02:16 AM

There really is no way to protect beginners and protect against macro users, you'll have to take the good with the bad, and hope that beginners don't go AFK outside.

Tyhm 02-25-2003 06:19 AM

Here's how you macroprotect:

Batch anything.

You go to the windmill, tell it to make 20 flour out of 20 corn. It gives you a cancel button, but otherwise you're free to do what you like while it does all that. Why should you have to buttonmash anyway? It takes the same ammount of time, and less network traffic, to batch-produce flour/arrows/dough/watercan-filling/iron crossbow bolts...start mining with a keypress and stop with another...

Kaiser2 02-25-2003 06:23 AM

Thym, I bet you hear this often, but that is a great idea :p
