Chat room?
People use these boards as chatrooms so much then why isn't there a graal chat room for people with pay to play accounts. Some sort of java applet. Or small downloadable program. The conversations people have over here are ridiculas, aswell as the fights, arguements, etc.. It would all work best In a chatroom I'd say.
Good idea, bad idea? |
Uhm, graal's lack of updates has already turned it into a chat room.

So everyone is paying for a chatroom where they can see other 'chatters'. Brilliant. Still, it's just that the boards are used like they are, maybe a chat room (Other then Graal) would be useful. |
isnt there a graal chatroom on IRC?

I don't think it would be used by many people anyway is it (The IRC one). |

As for (Lack of updates make graal a chatroom) that still doesnt solve that people have their arguements, discussions, fights here. |

*starts to talk but dismisses it*....*continues to pet the cat on his lap*

Graal did used to have a chatroom, but the irc server is down, and I forget the address, but it was on graal3d.com , too bad that site isn't there anymore. Actually, that site was ugly, but it was made by Antago, so that's understandable.
Lycia runs a Graal Chatroom, but, well, Lycia has a... strong personality, and at times is very biased. |

mmmmkay: Yes, and then people like Sac can flood it with spam!

I run an IRC channel, that has been the most successful Graal Online-oriented chatroom in the history of the game. Yes, we get idiots there, but, then again, every channel on all IRC networks are subjected to it.
I behave very differently on IRC. I'm not as egotistic and power-hungry on it. I've been on IRC for 7 years now and I know a thing or two about how to run a channel. I don't act like I do on Graal on my channel. I'm more laid back and I allow more on the channel. Hell, even unixmad's been there twice, and he said "Thanks for hosting this chat room." unixmad's also said he's going to make weekly visits to it, so, that should say something about how the channel is ran. He likes the channel. I really wish you people would just knock off the anti-Lycia crap. It gets old pretty fast. I am honestly not that bad of a person, and hell, even SG111 has nothing against me anymore. Neither does some of the SG111 site's staff. If that doesn't say anything about how I am, then I don't know what is. Anyway, I fully support a channel, but, not java-based or Graal-game based. Java is too buggy, and people complain about lag too much for a chat room on the game. mIRC takes up very little resources, its easy to use, and hell, even a person on a 486x66 can use it and not have it lag up their computer. Anyway, I'm going to do a bit of spamming here. http://www.mirc.co.uk Pick up mIRC, then install it. Then, when you load up the program, fill in your information (not real), and then hit okay. Then, in your status screen, type: /server irc.alphanine.com Then, when you've connected, type /join #Graal Then you're there! The rules of the channel and how things are run there are under construction. Things will be more smoothly ran there, and there won't be any power abuse there. I really don't accept it. So, come check it out. :) |

However, it could be cool if GScript was given some way of interacting with the IRC server program stuff so that players ingame could monitor and contribute to the chat. Quote:
"It's MY channel, if you don't like it, leave!" I suppose it's not abuse when the owner does it. |
Why not make a program like ICQ (ok i never seen it:rolleyes: )
but after what i know it's a kind of chat and so... well i mean, a program u download from site and can: chat, send files to some one, e-mail and more... |

what i think.
mabie there could be a chat room withing the graal exe, here is how :). Ok on the first screen you get it ask's for acount name and password, language and nickname, alone with the options, train, and start, well then you have everything set, press start, and on the next screen, which is the server list, there should be a chat in there, so you can talk to friends and see what server you want to go on and stuff like that, also you can talk to people with now pay acounts and such.
Just a neat little idea, it can also be used when playing graal such as pressing f8 while playing, though mabie it should d/c you if you do that back to the server list. |

Mostly because I want it to become somewhat official and because I want more users. I've stopped the whole "This is my channel, don't like it, leave" crap mostly. As for my co-founders insulting unixmad, I am going to discuss with each one individually that if they cannot control their hatred in that channel, that I'm going to ask them to either step down as co-founder or simply leave. I want a positive environment in #Graal, and it cannot be achieved with anti-Graal people. I am fixing it up. I just need a bit of time. |
There should be a chatroom button in graal, when your on a p2p server... I have alot of good ideals for graal... later when i get home from school i am going to post a new thread with a list of stuff, and some screenshots....

Democracy. Co-founders, whoever they may be, should have a say. Hate. It shouldn't be anti-Graal otherwise it defeats the objective. SPAM. I don't need to say much on this issue :) If it became official with some custom coding then it'd rock. The ability to ban users by P2P account rather than by IP would make it so much easier to control, for example. |

As far as the co-foundership, I'm going to be stripping quite a few co-founders of their power simply because we do not need 982374 co-founders. Besides, Zulithe is the actual co-founder, and he should have his power only, and the rest should be SOP'ed. As far as hate goes, all I can say is, theres hate even on these boards, so we cannot govern it in the IRC channel. Spam -- Again, it happens even on these boards, but, I see your point. It does get annoying sometimes, and I feel that it should be left for a set hour when everyone can spam the channel. Like, have an hour everyday where people can spam their hearts out on the IRC channel. It's not hard, heh. |
Feh, if I wasn't so lazy I'd run an ircd for graal. If I could find some place to run on again. And after I relearned IRC scripting.

The built in 2002 chat is all we will need.

I have just made a Graal chatroom, if anybody wants to use it. I will treat it proffesionally if anybody wants to get in. Not a single person will get @ off the bat, unless they are Stefan or Unixmad. Any Graal Online Staff can have a + however.
server: ftsmith.ar.us.damaged.net room: #Graal-Online I look forward to anybody who wishes to join the conversation there. Please do not flame or flood, and profanity is not allowed. As well, the IRC owners take no interest in the channels on the server, unless it involves something illegal or violates their rules. |
Quote:
Sorry to say, but, my channel offers more freedom. Yours is ran like some military camp. I mean, at least the damn G2k1 boards aren't as anal about rules as you appear to be. Geez. |
