anyway I kinda have to question the motive for creating a graal news site, when there are several other sources to asertain this same information, which is already organized quite well in this forum.

My total point is this: Everything notable is announced on this forum, with a plus. Here, you either get the information from the source, or the source has the chance to add their input. There is no middle man.

If Joe Manager quits on Playerworld X, he can come here, state his reasons why, and everyone can discuss them. You don't have some 15 year old "reporter" twisting his words, and adding their own point of view, due to a lack of knowledge about how journalism is supposed to work.

So now, instead of getting your information from a second party source, you're getting it directly from the person, and you're reading the views of many others who have insight into the situation. Instead of getting someone elses opinion, you can form your own using all the information at hand.

I do not see how this project is at all useful. At best, any news written there would have already been posted on these forums hours prior, unless Unixmad, Stefan, and Server managers plan on giving Bef tons of information before anyone else knows, which would be a questionable action.

This project would be helpful if Graal was a much larger community with a lot more happening on a daily basis. Currently however, I just see it as an unneeded way for people to gain "status" in the community.

Playerworlds.

Why would I want someone elses review of a playerworld, when I myself can log on and form my own opinion?

In what way is it superior for them to post such a review on a "news" site, instead of on the forums where it can be talked about?

Sure, you can get the information, but the review itself might be good.

Yeah, and it also might be full of negative bias due to a grudge aganist a member of the staff on that playerworld.

Why is it a better action to post such a review on a website rather than a forum where it can be discussed?

It isn't, but if the review was only the webiste, you'd have to go to the website, whereas with News you can go to the forums or the website, because News is released by the Graal staff, but with a review, the creator of the review decides where they want to put it.

And, as with the GraalWiki, there are some things you can say on a website that you can't say on the forums.

Reviews in most cases are others opinions on things. For instance a movie reviewer writes his opinion of the movie on official sites and others read them to decide whether they want to see the movie or not. As you can tell, reviews exist so you can compare your opinion with someone else's.

Quieten down, bratchild. If somebody uses words that you don't understand, it doesn't imply that they're cheating. You need to accept that some people are just better than you.

But you have to play the playerworld for while in order to form your own opinion, and with such an amount of playerworlds I'm not sure if everyone wants to do that.

Okay, but why is it impossible that such a review could not exist on the forums?

Most playerworlds are under construction, and, thusly, are not ready to be played or reviewed. There are only a handful of worlds ready for such reviewing, and those are mostly under the hosted and classic tabs.

I believe there was already an issue in the past with Bef reviewing a world that was not yet ready for public criticism.

You post the website people sign up and just ditch it. Bef, you need to get people interested somehow.

Hah you see - I did post reviews on these very forums and got cussed out because I am not an official playerworld reviewer. - you cant win unless you change the game, I for one am changing the game.

Changing the game how? Creating a sub-par news site and throwing out non-insightful biased playerworld reviews will not earn you respect from the players.

Get people who can actually write and your in the good.

So when are we gonna see some actual news?

The point of Graal News would obviously be for fun? And like Bef said when someone posts a review they get flamed for having there own opinions. I personally don't like posting on the graal forums, and there are tons of issues that happen on playerworlds that you dont hear on this board.

Rofl, I am going to buy graalnews.org and host it. Then brute force their website, take all the codes etc.. and put it up on my site. Then pay a bunch of people 5.00$ per 5 articles they get. Then I will be more popular then you guys.
