Doing more that is required is always a plus because it shows you have more than a passing interest.

I agree with Moonie, if I was reviewing the application I would have immediately turned you down. Everyone here is capable of and I'm sure willing to provide the same had it been asked or even implied like "include anything else which you think would get you the job."

Same. I did put a little extra but not too much, I was afraid he'd be like "woah cant this kid read the requirements" :/

There is a difference in expanding on a question put to you on the Application and just going off on your own; giving your lifes history or something you think they want to hear with the attempts to try to impress them. So some extra is a good thing IF it is done in moderation. If you try to blow your own horn too much you will only succeed in blowing yourself out of the water so to speak... ;)
