Yeah. Basically UDP is faster, but it has a chance that the data packets won't be received.

I still delay like a ***** no matter what though.

I didn't even know what Udp was, I tried it though and it seems to be faster

I knew what UDP was, just never been able to successfully use it. It would be nice if the connection settings were automatic.

Automatic? It's worth considering - what if it was scriptable? Like spar rooms that lock the two main contestants in Direct-Connect mode?

UDP is automatically on when you install Graal. But if you're like me and have a router or share a connection, you gotta use TCP or forward the port UDP wants to use. I never knew that you could do this so I've been using TCP since 2001. Guys thats a long ass time of not hearing the mic, people complaining that I lag, etc.

I'll make a step by step instruction on how to do it later, it's quite simple really.

Unless it was changed in the last version, UDP is not on by default after an install. The "don't use UDP option" would mean you're not using UDP if it's checked. A lot of people mistake that, and it was mentioned before to maybe be renamed sometime to avoid the confusion.

I seem to be one of--if not--the only person who has no problems using UDP (unchecked, remember) with a router. I have no port forwarding set up, and DMZ is not on either. I had to get a "special" (or different at least) router to hook more than one computer to my modem, as apparently my ISP blocks "normal" routers. Last I knew, they expected you to pay for multiple modems (and cable bills) per computer. It could be the mac address cloning in the router setup that is letting UDP work normally, maybe.

Setting a fixed port for UDP often makes it easier to get the NAT forwarding it (you still need to configure it to use that port though).
*cough* Stefan!!!! You completely forgot to mention the implications of bandwidth!!!!

Well we got our own opinion.
