Hartland

Hello.

Hartland is a new age role playing server, which will try to gain maximum interaction between player and the world, as well as world and world. As example Players will be able to set trees on fire, and they will also be able to see a wolf hunting a rabbit, or a bunch of ants creating a new colony.

Staff right now consists of only me and Kyden, but more are not needed. I tried to get some scripters to help but they are all tied with Graal 2002, so now I gave up and am relearning scripting my self.

Screenshot below has an example of an overworld level. That is a small village in Hartland Forest.

Character sprites were deleted in a freak accedent, and I am trying to retrieve them from Kyden, if that fails, that might push server back some.

Looks really nice but is there any way you can make the trees stand out more. It blends in with the grass alot and I dont want it to be how Maloria was when it first opened up and run into things because they blend in alot.

Also just out of curiosity who is your graphics artist?

All Trees are NPCs, so you won't be able to run into them, they'll be drawn over player.

Nice I didnt know you could do graphics. Still though they blend in with the ground might make the levels look more detailed with something to make them stand out just a little bit more.

Looks good, simple and to the point.
The detail in the trees however... just looks like scribbles. Maybe fix that up?

I disagree on the trees, yes a little more contrast but scribble? Naww it gives off a soft appearance to the trees instead of a hard-line look we have on Graal now. It’s just a lot different from what you are used to seeing , a more blended softer look to the trees and I don't think this is a bad thing at all, just different. And I think the "cartoon effect" commented on is just that it looks more 2D than 3D , this in itself may also not be a bad thing.

That looks really awesome, Androk. I am in love with the graphics and concept. If you guys need any help with storyboarding or maybe even level design. My sn for AIM is "fatescent" without the quotes.

Another question, how far along is this server, Hartland?

I see what you're saying. Personally I dont think that really looks bad unless you zoom way in. From the normal graal screen size I think it looks ok. But then again thats just me.

I tried to edit it, but I can't get the coloring right. I'll leave it as is for now.

It is scribble. But basically it is an imitation of how light still gets to lower levels, or how darker leafs cover lighter ones.

Pretty much what I am going for, just because that's the only style that comes out when I draw.

Can't open the screeny, but from what I see from the "SCRIBBLES 101" pic the house seems a bit like Oasis's. But I may be mistaken... I forget exactly what Oasis's houses look like, but I think they look somewhat like that.
