Tileset Problems

I edited the current N-Pulse tileset, uploaded it onto the server, put it into a script in the level i wanted, and uploaded the level. It works fine online, but the tileset won't load offline.

Pretty much, i can't make levels with the tileset, which is annoying because I did add a few tiles in a few different places.

The current script I am using is:
NPC Code:

//#CLIENTSIDE
if (created) {
addtiledef2 refino_npulse-tileset.png,refino*,0,0;
}

I tried using regular addtiledef, but that didn't work either. With that script, if I put in any other tileset, such as the custom N-Pulse one, it works just fine. I was wondering why the tileset won't load offline.

Any help will be appriciated. Thanks.

You only need to do it one time, timeout is bad. Actually it is best to put it in an initialization-weapon-script

Maybe also try:

HTML Code:
//#CLIENTSIDE
if (playerenters) {
  removetiledefs;
  addtiledef2 refino_npulse-tileset.png,refino,0,0;
}
Also, as Stefan said, this is best in a weapon initialization script. But, if you are doing this offline, then that should work. Remember to delete the script before uploading (and make sure you do use a weapon initialization script).

yeah, even after removing the star, it still doesn't work. Even if I try to put it as the image of an NPC, it still doesn't show up in Editor. ie: if i were to put pics1.png, obviously, the whole tileset would be viewable as an NPC. However, when I put my tileset in the image box, it just shows the NPC symbol.

Just for some extra information in case I did something wrong:
-I made it in paint, went into photoshop, and saved it as a .png file.
-No Transparency (Obviously, it's a tileset)

Idk, I can't seem to think of any reason why it wouldn't work offline but it works fine online.

It is possible whatever program you used saved it as a 32bit image.. Photoshop tends to do that A LOT.

Cant tell you how angry I get sometimes because it wont seem to save as 8 or 16 bit.

And I'm not even sure tilesets can be 24 bit.

Also, why are you still using GS1?

He's trying to get this to work offline. Unfortunately, the only way to do so is to use old gscript.

I would also try maybe having a copy of the tileset in the same folder where you saved your level.

With Graal4, that is. N-Pulse still supports Graal2, so it is reasonable to assume that the tiles should work with the editor.

Alright, well I tried saving it as an 8 bit, 256 color in Paint Shop Pro 8. However, when I did that, it distorted all of the colors for some reason. Any suggestion?

Paint is not a good place to save colors.

A tileset should probably be 16bit color though, not 8 bit (may be too small with all the colors)

As people in previous posts of this thread have mentioned, there could be too much colors in the image.

GraalOnline will allow the tileset to function online, but not offline in editor. It makes editor some big black level with a lot of random lines or colors.

To get around this, break the tileset up into more than one image. Like, have it as eight images, then set no transparent colors in Paint Shop Pro, and save it as a .png file.

Then use addtiledef2 to load the images onto the tileset. This will allow the image of the tileset to have nice colors and function.

That sounds rather interesting. I see that you've done that with your tileset(s), so obviously you've done it and it works.

I'll do that. I appriciate the help guys. Thanks a lot.

I would not reccomend breaking it up.

If you can save the tileset as a 16 bit image (which you should be able to) then you should have no problem saving it as one image.

Breaking it up into multiple images was only for when Stefan didnt allow big files to be uploaded.
