Classes?

I don't play GK much or at all and am pretty much a noob when it comes to classes.

What's thief for? What's warrior for?

They both are pretty useless. Only thing good about a thief is that you start with the stealing skill, but that is pretty useless and only works on bomys when you first start.

You can gain experience by stealing items from monsters.
The classes give different items, skills and stats at the start, but you can theoretically get everything later.

Thought so.

What advantages do they have in the long run when it comes to player vs player, or monster vs player? It's just that I've never really seen either.

When you get high level you will most likey have all of stats at 20 base and most of the stat items for most of the classes and you will have most of the skills aswell so in the long run it will not really matter.

As Stefan said, you can gain experience early on from stealing, but honestly, any player of any class can learn stealing and do the same thing...

The classes do give different starting items, mostly useless because you will discard them later anyways.

Ultimately, classes determine how you start, but in the end, everyone ends up powerful, and more than class, it just depends on how you play your character, if you start as a mage, and you use weapons to kill everything, you will end up with high physique and be a warrior, more than a mage, regardless of your class, etc.

The classes only mattered in Crossfire, where the open-source code was originally taken from. IE: Monks could not use weapons, due to their guidlines, but started with a unique skill called "Meditate" which is essentially praying, but for magic instead of wisdom.

However, not all of the classes were transferred to graal, or the races, so here, it doesn't really matter. Although, I would like to see some of the other races from Crossfire transferred over..

GK classes seem so grossly pathetic after playing WoW for the past month or so.

So a level 50 thief is as powerful as other level 50's?

The way GK works in my opinion is just Barbarian, Priest, or Mage.

The way GK works is:

A few people work hard, and scrape by with a couple dozen diamonds and by "okay" gear, and a mediocre but still representable level. Or those who truly want to succeed reach level 110 thruogh honest means (Alan Steele)

Then you have the other 75% that says "lolz hearz $250 l337 m3 plz".

The end.

That is too true now days. Most people cant even work hard for it working hard for your items is apart of the fun of playering the game. So why do people want to get good in 1 day.

its because working hard to get there isnt fun, its not the players problems its graals for either A attracting the wrong adiance to the server or b not making develouping your character fun, a constant in RPGs seems to be grinding and its just no good, i dont understand why anyone would willingly add this to a game

just think about this for a second you have people paying to play a server but they have to grind and pay out of their ass untill a year later when the fun starts after their done leveling, or they can pay it all in one blow and have fun now.

if i had the money to spare Id do it too. i dont get satisfaction from mashing a key all day to mine rocks.

Leveling was a lot funner when you could party with people (no I'm not talking about any party bugs). Teaming up with someone and conquering a map, being able to type /party kills to see who killed the most and what points you got for killing with each type of skill, was great. Speaking of leveling, why not give us oldbies a thrill and increase the max level to 120? Given the participation rate and interest, why not?

The party "bug" was great.

One of the biggest problems with the server, the classes. I was pretty disappointed when I found out there was no diversity and it didn't matter what class you picked, because you could learn everything later on down the road.
