Still not happy with the grass...probably should spend some more time on it sometime, although the focus isn't on the grass in the blank spaces I wanted to fill it in a bit, the grass around the dirt and the rock are how I want them.

Looks ok, unless I'm not looking at it correctly I'm not seeing much shading. That could just be my angle though

Grass/dirt is way too dark. You really need to lighten things up a bit.

I tried to make some grass to fill in real quick but soon it just became a game of "How many colors can you fit in one place which I commonly do. (Overdo)

Your original is quite nice, imo. I have a sort of classical opinion on these things, though.

Depends on what you're basing this statement. The area you live in tends to dictate the type of grass you have. For example, grass in the northeastern United States is much thinner comparably than that offered in places like Florida, where the higher quality grasses tend to be so thick that footprints are not left when walking on them.

The one on the right is the original one that I posted with the dirt tile.

It's a florida-great plains hybrid rofl...

lol, my comment wasn't intended to discuss color, only thickness. I think in the right setting, either could be fine for the most part.

It's too thick in proportion of what would be the average sized sprite. I mean... sure, it COULD be possible, but that doesn't always mean it looks best in pixel art.
