Melee weapons?

If Era was to add more melee weapons such as the Katana, Samurai Sword, etc.. would you purchase them? Each sword would have a different ability you gain over time with a certain amount of kills. Such as:

Enblade:
Damage: 35dmg.. 500 kills.. 45dmg
SwingTime: Fast..500 kills.. Very fast

This is just an example, and not exact figures. But i'm asking the community if they feel this would add some more melee weapons at good prices if they'd look into investing into them?

The bonus over time people should gain is skill, in my opinion, not flashy new abilities. If you did something like this, I personally would just lame a trial for 500 kills, and pay them 20k.

I do like the idea of some more Melee weapons, however~ that'd be cool

Well the levelling progress would be different, that was just an example

Also melee weapons would give a purpose such as faster speed, ability to deflect bullets etc..

If melee weapons were easier to use, I'd definitely look into investing in one, especially if it was going to get better over time.

(and by easier to use, I mean a wider swing radius or a longer reach, or both really ;P)

But I have a question on how melee weapon progression would work logistically:
Are the upgraded stats weapon-specific, or player-specific? meaning if you chose to sell your sword after leveling it as far as it'll go, do the stats follow the sword, or is it only for you?

Also, though i get that the numbers you threw out wouldn't be final or anything, I think progression over time works better in smaller intervals. Like instead of the damage being bumped up by 5 after a certain amount of kills, it would be bumped up by 1 in a fifth of the time.

the thing that has killed melee weapons (other than every gun being buffed except melee or hotkeys being inserted) is the fact that when u have a gun equiped and u press S or space it puts the gun away BUT NO LONGER COUNTS AS A MELEE HIT, i know this is more realistic but it makes melee weapons literally useless

Melee weapons can already be overpowered in various situations.
Give someone a LS in a small room or to lame a door, gg.
Give a lagger a long reach scythe or SS (Like Rob or Rams used to do), gg.

This isn't a ninja samurai medieval server, it's a gun server.
Plus we don't need more weapons, cause then we'd have to bring Wil back to balance them.

u obviously don't know how era works: it's hard to use melee if u lag, and easy to be hit by melee if u lag

Make it so you have to build melee weapons by gathering materials. Eventaully the weapon breaks and you must make another one. Make different materials so you can make it really strong but slow, really fast but weak, or have long endurance but in the middle of those other two categories. Also, if the materials were difficult to find the value of these items would increase making them a hot-ticket item in a normal economy.

If this is done, the stats should be player specific. Obviously if it's "item specific" then people would just buy the highest level one at the time, level it up then try to get you buy it for like 20x more. Overall "item specific" won't have like 30 "level 20" samurai swords everywhere.

This didn't work in the past.
Anyone remember the ol' katana? So many people freaked out about that damn thing.

People really only complain about "overpowered" items if they don't have one. So you should never make something "super powerful" unless you plan to release enough for like 75% of the server to get one.

Give everyone unlimited nukes.

Will anyone complain? Probably not... they got unlimited nukes bro.
Is it still overpowered? Probably.

Opinions and statistics aren't the same (unless you're gathering statistics of people's opinions `-`)
