No, because then what happens when I come to Antago's application?
Do I delete it because he doesn't have a prayer?
Seems kinda harsh. What if I'm wrong? It happens...

In any case, 2 graphics guys voted simultaneously last night, and another abstained from all this morning, so we're down to 16 live applications. I might post them on the news, but I doubt it, anonymity and all.

When I said "no-hopers" I meant those who wouldn't be nearly skilled enough to get in. Those who would inevitably get 0 "yes" votes. Like that Viper fellow who applied, for example. If you'd even think about rejecting Antago's application just because you don't like him, then...

If I evaluate Antago's application, even without looking at the name, and reject it carte blanche because it doesn't have a prayer, there's trouble. He can say he was rejected because he's Antago, what am I gonna say, his application objectively sucks?

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, that's what you live with anyway. I've read complaints from idiots who got totally killed in the voting process who said it was just because the voters were jealous of their skills. It happens one way or another, so why shape the process simply on Antago and a few others?

(By the way, do levels and graphics people judge scripting entries?)

One of the advantages of sending the applications to 18 people equally is that it eliminates the target for outrage. People who get rejected by one person can hate that one person, people who got rejected by 9 out of 18 people have a difficult time deciding which 9 people to hate, especially because I never say who voted for or against: that information is confidential, and can only be requested by the GMs in the event of an audit.

Yes, everyone evaluates every type of entry.

Aye carumba, you let artists judge scripts? How would they know the first thing about how to judge them?

True, but is that enough? Spyfire is impressive if they don't know the command exists - which an artist probably wouldn't. A person who judges scripts should be able to look at every single piece of code and understand it and know how difficult it must have been to code. Otherwise it's like getting a blind man to judge graphics.

There aren't that many graphics guys on the team to matter. If all the scripters and levelmakers hate it, and all the graphics guys love it, it still doesn't pass.

4 people have yet to vote, and there are 8 applications left that are within 2 votes of being passed or rejected. I could just call them as it is, but that'd hardly be fair...

Still, how would you feel if your hypothetical application was denied because a graphics guy didn't realise that your non-fancy script was actually very difficult and extremely impressive? Usually it'll balance out, but why introduce the element of inaccuracy?
