Kaimetsu
This young man was brought up in a farming community far away from the rest of society. From an early age he was tired of the life that had been chosen for him and longed for greater things. His two brothers looked down on his aspirations but he didn't much care. He had never felt like he belonged in the family and had very little in common with any of them.
Resident most in his psyche was a lust for power. He hid it, because he doubted that he'd have any chance to ever gain that power, but as time went by he slowly moved towards grasping his dream. Hours were spent training in a crude form of martial art that he taught himself when not attending to chores.
One day, shortly after his seventeenth birthday, the farm was attacked by raiders, intent on stealing their hard-earned possessions. As they approached, the teenager was hustled away with his mother and baby brother, as his father and older sibling went to try to stop the attackers. From his place of hiding, he watched as the two defenders were savagely cut down, and as their lifeless bodies cooled in the night, something snapped. A rage enveloped him and he charged towards the man who had killed his father. Taking the sword that the old man had dropped, he quickly attacked with a combination of kicks and sword attacks, felling the raider in moments.
The other attackers saw their leader vanquished, and the dark look on the young man's face, and ran away. Kaimetsu barely noticed them go, however, his attention focused instead on the man he had just killed. For the first time he had taken a life, and rather than feeling guilt or sorrow, he felt his lust for power even stronger than before.
Some days later, when his mother was grieving, she conferred to him a secret that she had hidden from everyone all his life. Years ago, when war was raging across the nearby kingdoms, a soldier had retreated to the farmlands that are now Kaimetsu's home. For one reason or another, a love affair blossomed between the soldier and Kai's mother, who was tending his wounds. Eventually, she bore his child but passed it off as her husband's. After a few months, the soldier left and was never seen again.
This revelation shocked and excited the young warrior. Finally he felt he had been given his ticket to a new world - the one that he wanted to live in. He felt he had a purpose and a worth in life as the son of a warrior and not a farmer. Empowered by this, he knew he could no longer stay at his farmlands home and ventured out into the wild.
Two years later, his battle skills have increased greatly but his life has become hollow. Every day is simply an excuse to fight yet another opponent, and since leaving his home he has never had a real relationship with another person. He is consumed with his quest to find his father, and innocent people have been seen to take lower priority. At this time more than ever he needs to find some friends to relate to, lest he travel too far down his current path to ever turn back...
Appearance: Dark blue eyes, semi-long dark hair. Average height with an athletic build. He wears dark clothing and wields a long curved sword stolen from a samurai temple he encountered on his travels.
Notes: Perhaps a member of the story will eventually be revealed as his father? Just a thought. |
