Well guys I just had an Idea on another way we could identify hackers easier. I was thinking we would list a few areas where hackers would normally expose themselves with either Walking through walls or speed hack. Then we would make it so the server would take a screenshot of that level every so often on a schedule (Like every 30 minutes or every hour). These then would be put in an archive somewhere to be examined by certain staff members to find anything out of the ordinary. Well what you guys think?

The probability of it catching someone would really be very low, and the designated staff member would get really bored, really fast.

It'd be fairly trivial to make a listing of where the last person walked through a wall, though...lastonwall x y level...some places it's legit, like in dungeons, where you jump down from ledges, certain scripted things...other places it's not....*shrugs*

30 minutes is too far apart a time. If it was something like 2 minutes even, that would be better. Unfortunately, all those pictures would eventually add up and take up a lot of space.

Plus if you know which levels are the problems, you COULD just put warps directly to jail over the problem areas. ^____^

How about a flag that gets set whenever a player goes on a wall, like that of a chest, eg:
##ow#level32.graal#32#32
Only if the player actively moved onto the wall, not teleported.

Also, a screenshot could be saved locally with a new command, such as:

if(onwall(playerx,playery)) {

setstring server.onawall,#a;

snapshot playerx,playery;

}

---

The first command being another way(excluding server-source editing) to tell some server-side npc to jail a player, and the second's command parameters being the focus of the screen on the level.

Of course, the first would become a triggeraction in a real situation and the second would be impractical because scripts could do such fiendish things as save a million screenshots on your PC and crash it.

I say we make it so that whenever anyone speed hacks, they have to say speed hack and when they say that it jails them, wouldn't that make life easier...?

I would like to be able to take snapshots of online levels through scripting to save to the server though.. it would be neat.. say for example, when someone touches a fake gralat that hasn't touched it before, it snaps 1 picture every 1 second or so for about 5 times, giving 5 pictures of the cheater running on the gralat and trying to take it and running all over the wall

Kindof like savelog but savepicture or something similar? That would be pretty good
