Question Linux Improvements

I am strickly using linux and i am very dissapointed, first off i the main clinet is way too laggy and should be switched to the normal windows version clinet, second the Linux RC need to be finshed it would be a huge help, i run the wine one right now using r0bins configuration found here http://r0bin.net/oldsite/linux but i cannot see pm's, playersnames, nc weapon names or db npc names.... if your a primarily linux based company how come this wasnt taken care of long ago?

First off, learn to complain. You get no where by being like this, don't they teach you how to write a business letter in English classes? Since when did the world become so rude and annoying.

Also, maybe you should start blaming yourself, linux graal runs fine for me, maybe you should use deductive reason, you know, the thing where you put two and two together and come to a conclusion, let us walk through the thought process of what should have happened in your mind!
'hmm, this is running slow'
'hmm, graal uses a lot of graphic things'
'hmm, maybe I should see if my graphic drivers are updated!'
'hmm, as a linux user who should know what they're doing and know a lot about linux, I should know that a lot of graphic card companies make drivers that aren't open source and don't want others distrubuting them!'
'hmm, I can conclude that the graphic drivers linux installed for me could possibly be open-sourced ones made by hackers but they aren't the real thing and thus most likely wont work as well!'
'hmm, maybe I should check my graphic card company's webside and see if they have drivers!!!'
'hmm, if all else fails, then maybe I should KINDLY ask these wonderful forum people for help!'

I'm sorry to hear that.

Do you have any idea of what you are talking about? Such a task wouldn't be easy at all, considering the windows client is written in Delphi, and v3 is written in C++. Do a bit of research on Delphi, and you'll figure out why.

It's being worked on.

What video card. It seems to run fine for everyone else, I'm 99.9% sure you don't have good drivers

Loriel discovered, if you didnt use the native windows comctrl32.dll provided from my sight, you can see the npcs and player list, but file manager does not work. Perhaps you could have two different directories, one with the rc configured to see the npcs and player list, and one configured to see the file manager.

I have a brand new (maybe 2 months old) AGP Inno 3D Graphics Card that ran perfectly for me. One day DirectX decided to take a **** on my computer and not work (Not litteraly).
My point: Things crap out, deal with it.

just make it so its NOT the enhanced gui the "graal3" client its unnessary i am sure it looks pretty and everything but its not about looking great esp when it comes to something built for linux, thinks like the transpanency and the dagger mouse are all so not needed ...

I think it is slightly more complicated.
The nifty gui stuff are hardly slowing things down, neither is the dagger cursor. And removing them would cause an annoying need for an additional portable library for widgets, I guess.
The problem is totally that your system is badly configured. I have the same problem because my graphics chipset drivers do not appear to support OpenGL, despite me using the most current ones.

First you say that you got the most updated drivers, then you say you don't know how to configure it...

Oh well

(GraalV3 runs very well on my linux box. It didn't before I updated nVidia drivers though.)

Hey, I bet if I dug out an old Pentium I or a 386, the Windows client would run very slowly, too. Guess that means Stefan will have to start over from scratch...

You still need good graphic drivers, if your video card can't even be identified I kinda doubt it supports stuff like openGL when it's used in accelerated mode or whatever it's called

I am now warning you that I will officially warn you if you do not try to be nicer

imho you really need to read the fs^H^Hmanual and figure out how to configure X to work with your graphics card, get some nifty drivers and stuff, then it could work despite your less than optimal system.

When you refer to something as a 'requirement', you imply that it is required. When you then say you have less than that, you are saying that you have less than is required.

Kindly think out your post before clicking that submit button.

Hahaha... Lance, you read it wrong. He has 300mhz less than the max requirement, not a 300mhz. I think that leaves him with a 500mhz.

Kindly think our your post before clicking that submit button, k?
