If you use common sense, you should know that single brackets "(" and ")" are used to express other points, feelings, information and things of the like, within a sentence. This can be done while roleplaying.
For example:
"Yes, it was but a windy night (though there was no rain) and I had to suffer through it."
That sentence is played in character. Other examples can be found in virtually any piece of literature.
The double brackets "((" and "))" are used to signify Out-of-character messages, for the reasons stated above.

I didn't mean to. Also, for what it's worth, the "you" in "If you just use common sense..." was collective.
I just assumed, incorrectly, that most people would have been able to relate seemingly basic punctuation questions to other members of this forum.

Double brackets are used on many other games besides Graal. In example, some players on Dark Age of Camelot often use double brackets to relate Out-of-character messages, conversations, or ideas.

It's an easy mistake to make. I suppose I should have put "all of you" to better convey the point, but I'm glad it's all cleared up.

Kaimetsu will become famous soon enough
The normal function of brackets is to designate a section of text that is apart from the rest of the sentence. This function is senseless if the entire chat is in brackets. I would argue that text such as this:

(I have to go watch TV soon)

is reasonable. However, if IC and OOC text is to be combined in one message, double-brackets should probably be used.

I always used because:

Dlaiyre Rain: Greets my lord <- IC Speech.
Dlaiyre Rain: (He seems to be look stronger today, even after our exausting battle with the Zormites.) <- IC thought.
Dlaiyre Rain: ((How am I doing RP wise?)) <- OOC Speech.

Well that was always my interpretation, the singular brackets I always used to convey my characters feelings, Because you can't have expressions in graal, As such when you look at a person in real life you can see that they are sad etc. On graal you need to be told

Guy: How are you Dlaiyre?
Dlaiyre Rain: I'm fine thanks, how are you? (Obviously looks rather sad)

As I said, Thats how I've always used it, I hope this clears things up, cause I couldn't really find a plausable answer from anyone else. (No offense intended..)

Any more most people I see do as Kaimetsu said. If the entire thing is ooc most people just use single brackets () if its in a sentence with ic information its double brackets. (()) But even then most times its usually pretty easy to distinguish which the person is doing with out alot of thought into trying to figure out if they're speaking ic or ooc.

It's just a typo, or Geno misunderstood what it means. It shouldn't be hard to interpret what he means.

I do quite fine with putting my OOC text in a single set of parenthesis. But if I'm a member of an RP group that requires 2 sets, of course I'll follow that. I usually see no reason to put anything else in 1 set of parenthesis that's IC. Actually...I kind of like asterisks. Sometimes I've used them in the past. I supposed anything I've put in there should be put in a single set of parenthesis instead, and I'd have to move OOC talk to a double set Bai bai, asterisks *waves goodbye to asterisks)

An idea was brought up not to long ago. The person said to make a command. For example, if you say "/ooc", everything you say from then on will automatically be put in 2 sets of parenthesis. Then, you can say "/ic" and everything is back to normal. Though I doubt anyone is too lazy to put everything in parenthesis, I think many people just don't care or know.
edit: Then again, this might get at least a few people to fix up their OOC talking. They might see it as an interesting thing of the game
