The boss is fine, he's not Epic but he's not a wimp either. To melee him solo you need to be constantly popping rests unless you have the time to keep dieing.
Why it's so easy to solo is the stages before the boss. The mobs just go inactive if no one is within a mid-range radius, which is stupid since the room is much larger than the radius it senses. Which leads to players popping 107 elemental scrolls or preparing director fields which shouldn't be possible in a serious instance. If they were able to sense the whole room Crypt would be better.
Two things I'd like to see change with crypt this Halloween would be:
1) An expansion, once Kvasir is dead his coffin reveals a staircase down. Under Crypt would be a new dungeon with 5 paths, 4 of which lead to locked rooms with switches and coffins. Parties will have to enter each room in a random order, beating all monsters that stand in their way to the room, and inside. Once all four switches are pressed, door 5 opens revealing another staircase into a final room with a new boss - don't care for the name. Once slain the four coffins in the previous rooms will open with rewards, some guaranteed, others rare.
Note: In the extended dungeon there will be stronger monsters - Vampire Bishops & Vampire Knights (or whatever else you wanna come up with) - but no stages. New monsters will get rare drops as well as common, new boss will get new rares as drops and maybe some old. Like with Crypt now players can only enter once a day if they defeat the boss. Which goes for Kvasir too, if they choose to not go into the higher level dungeon underneath but kill Kvasir they have to wait 24 hours.
2) Number of people in the party should affect the difficulty, experience reward and item drop chance of the run. Changes in difficulty include increased mob dps & hp as well as casting speed. Changes in experience would be quite substantial, 10-man granting maybe 1.5m exp each for killing Kvasir, 85k each for killing a guardian or priest. Changes in drop chance would also be great.
All this would apply to the expansion. It does sound quite complicated to script though so i don't see it working without 2 years of bugs...
