Spawn rate of armor improvements (previously "drop rates")

i'm a bit confused. why did we lower the drop rate of iwd's, ea's, prep weapons, and ew's? untill about a week ago this didn't affect me i didn't really care didn't bother me. but now that my little bro is playing i realize this affects newer players greatly. makes it almost impossible for them to level since monsters can easily break their ac. if it wasn't for me lending my brother a few +12 items he probably wouldn't even want to play because he wouldn't enjoy it.

it seemed like an ok idea at first. but now the only people it affects really are newer players.
i suggest either restoring the drop rate or at the very least increasing it.

Because with less IWDs/EAs etc, players feel less obligation to need them for pvp, which means it's cheaper to go bmode.

Specifically blame Majin for this, as his sense of elitism when it comes to items is the reason why your brother feels the need to have IWDs/EAs.

I feel your little brother's pain with the IWDs and EAs. They could at least be event prizes or something.

Well, really, the biggest problem with IWDs and EAs is that other players already got a head start from when they were easy to find. Probably the only mistake was not resetting everyone's armor so everyone had a fair fresh start. However, I feel that EAs and IWDs (but specifically EAs) are one of the reasons our bmode structure is so messed up.

I love you, thank you for actually acknowledging them as being the problem rather than part of the solution

Although i complain about (simply because i'm in need of IWD's at the moment) the drop in weapon and armor improvement scrolls is pretty justified. I actually think resetting all armors (not weapons) would have been the best way to go because what we're left with now is old armor which has been +12'ed and new armor which has be +12'ed (if you were fortunate enough to get that many EA's. Newer enchanted items have been invested with 1200-1800dias in enchants while old items just 60dias... People are quite confused and whereas it's too early to see it now, there will be controversy over how much +12 items are worth.
Weapon resets would just piss people off although it would have put everyone at the same level of power.

What the hell? I make bmode more accessible by lowering my AC intentionally and ask others to follow my example. So what if i aim for the best gear, I've played and worked hard long enough to deserve that. I really don't see how I'm to blame at all. Anyone who stacks AC is partially to blame, anyone who aims at perfecting their item build is partly to blame. I object strongly to being labeled as the problem

This would have been a fantastic thing in the early days of GK, at least diamond prices have fallen by half since a month someone was so desperate for them they offered 500 plats per, and the price stuck for quite awhile.

I would agree for an armor enchantment reset, since it's easy to get by with clean gear, this would have slowed the rate of people reaching levels 60-110 by quite a bit, prices might have been much more affordable overall, right now there's a bit of +12 gear still in use, but i don't think as much as about a year or two ago, same with the really strong rings, they don't spawn as much, but are still available now and then if you get lucky when a shop stocks one.

Anyways, maybe the different classes could somehow be revamped too? That has been an issure since almost day one, certanly it doesn't matter very much what you choose when you start, but could a passive bonus be added to certain classes to make each one appealing to new players in some way? More damage for barbarians? more defence earned from armor for warriors? higher chance to find drops for thieves? (maps, coins and gems from certain monsters) stuff like that would really interest people to try different classes instead of just buy ability scrolls and call it a day.

IMO the spawn rate of EA's could be lowered even more, though I don't see why you had to lower the spawn rate of iwd's this drastically.
Weapon prepping will lead to more pvp battles which also will lead to more fun.

Weapons prepping decreases pvp because if players are obligated to prep weapons before they pk, that's just another obstacle they're forced to maneuver around before the can actually jump into bmode.

and frankly, what is there to do on GK (when there isn't easter events)

B-mode is the main fun-factor in GK to me, and reducing the 'requirements' to go bmode, would increase the fun.

I don't see how weapon prepping would decreases pvp, if you just tuned your weapon up you eagerly want to test it out.
Thus you start to battle, if iwd's spawn rate was back to how it was before then weapon prepping would of been a piece of cake.

Also without prepping your weapon your damage would be considerably reduced, a fight with a lvl 110 with 540 hp would take ages.

It takes ages to fully finish a weapon off to be what you are considering 'b-mode ready'. Where do you think this guy is while he's waiting? Certainly not PKing.

That's the point. Let me quote Stephen from another thread:

Our powerful players - John, Romain, Majin, and even myself - eventually we will leave the community...

When we leave we will be like legends, stronger than any of the contemporary players; these players will be able to enjoy the GK system more than we did because it will be working within the limitations it was designed for. Our powerful items, sold or gifted, will be like relics; so powerful in comparison to the players of new, so rare...
So you see it's intended to leave the new players weak and the old players strong.
But the decision to make the scrolls rare has one important ancillary effect: new players lose interest in playing GK and leave the server instead of buying Gold.

Graal Kingdoms has the highest trial-to-gold conversion out of any other server on Graal.

Not to be mean or something but there are only 2 Gold servers; Zone and GK.

Zone is pretty dead... so that makes it pretty logical that GK will have the highest trial-to-gold conversion ratio.

I still think if we reset everything it would be cool A nice fresh start. And I have been forming FULL party's of trial members and run them trough maps, help mine or farm, and even hunt lords. If more people tried helping the new players I think we could get even more of a conversion ratio.

We aren't talking about 'the old days' here. In the present now, it would take even a platinum-packed player a long time to even spawn the IWDs.

Not everyone has lifetime classic. Newer players need to upgrade to even play classic servers now.

Probably because it's the only played gold server and 80% of players have lifetime classic?

USDing encourages people who don't buy for USD (most people) to not join. Tig knows this and will probably reset weapons/armor after Stephen (and maybe some others) cash out. Just make sure all potential buyers know that armor is going to get reset and nobody will be able to sell it.

And it shouldn't be that easy. Prepping needs to be hard, prepping needs to be something out of the way that people don't feel the need to do.

As it stands, it's a lot easier to obtain enchanted armor (which can be bought from another person) than to obtain a prepped weapon (which can't). There's still going to be a lot more +12 armor floating around than there will be prepped weapons capable of breaking it, so all this really does is further privilege magic over physical fighting. A person never needed prepped weapons to be viable in Bmode, just enchanted armor and a wand.

Recently, the argument for players not being in bmode/leaving trade is that they can't break anyone and need a prepped weapon for higher str/dex/con or damage. There's no discouraging them from this train of thought, they simply refuse to go into bmode without a weapon that they think has decent damage or enough scrolls to give them over 30 30 30, as opposed to a 9 and some poison. With prepping weapons near impossible, they'll overlook a prepped weapon compensating for low stats.

Now we just need to make 30s less tangible/conventional (massive negatives on armor to balance out the stat gain. imo, sacrifice speed for str, that'll get 'em).

Until they find out that without one they can't deal any serious damage to anyone because everyone has 99 armor.

Seriously, has anyone who thought this was a good idea ever actually tried hitting someone with an unprepped weapon?

Unless of course someone started using magic. Prepped weapons were the only way physical fighters could compete with mages.

I am not just talking about GK and Zone, I am also including all classic servers and other playerworlds. To reiterate what I already said in order to reinforce my initial point: Graal Kingdoms has the highest trial-to-gold conversion rate out of any other server on Graal; especially during holidays.

that's ludicrous: bows=win against mage and if u can break ac with a wand u don't need to do a lot of damage because they can't cast and eventually u'll poison them thus ending them

Provided you have more speed than the mage and aren't anywhere that there are bow-blocking obstacles (any town, etc.) AND provided you can break the mage's ac consistently and stop them from healing off the poison. You pretty much need to be able to stop a mage's spells >90% of the time to beat them with an unprepped bow.

How many mages left on the server are fast enough to take care of being poisoned, avoid more arrows, and still keep the archer at bay? Especially considering as soon as that first poison takes effect, they're switching to their hotkeyed sword and running you down. Which is also Ogma'd.

And ac isn't that much of a problem when someone's using bows.

you do not have to break ac to stop spell casting. and cure poison and rest. have large cast times so it's pretty easy to keep them from casting them. and u can have slightly less speed because they need to stop to cast+cast time

That is a ridiculous accusation and you should really consider what you say before you accuse anyone of such a ludicrous and false claim.
