Soala's graphics gallery (done/undone) !
Well, not to copy Aeko but I felt like showing off what I'm currently working on, updating things frequently, show some projects, and show finished work too ! And this, in one and only thread
You can comment/criticize love/hate/burn it/shoot your comp because of those graphics being too awesome?/and so on...

Some of you may remember the 2nd sword (smallest one) but i fixed it a little bit, and I took exemple on that one to make another one.
So the first one (with blue gem inside) is the Prince's sword, and the 2nd one is the King's. Why is the King's smaller ? From my point of view a King manage his kingdom by giving vocal orders. That sword is still powerful tho, but it's just to help him defend himself. Then the Prince's is bigger, as he may go help defend the kingdom on the front line !

Then the 3rd one (didn't decide yet for the handle colors, just trying some more gold on it) is supposed to be a really sharp blade, and the handle was real fun to make =)

I'm going to post a preview of my drake soon !

The definition in the shading on the blade itself seems awkward to me. Especially with the dark gray line shooting straight up the center of it.

I'm speaking more towards the first blade. The second blade is a little better, IMO.

I guess I'll work a bit more on it !
I actually didnt work on the blade for the prince's, I just copied the king's and resized it to see how it would fit, didn't realize it was quite weird looking.

I feel like with a line of definition like that, you might like to curve it with the blade. You have it just going straight up.

It's probably more of a personal preference than anything.

Hoy, didn't have that much time to spend on graphics over the past few days, but here's a little attempt to improve the sword =3

Most stories/books I read have the prince fighting in it, I even remember a movie with the prince fighting on his royal horse, he didn't even get hurt.
Might just be the fantasy mixed with it.

About the shield, I will sure post it soon, but I'm really busy irl actually, so you most likely have to wait 'till the week-end till I get back to it

Said movies usually involve a tragic death. If I were the prince on the front line, I'd be considering how to best assassinate my father for putting me there to begin with instead of my burly royal guard or something.

Doooone ! Finaly had some time on me.
Handle looks odd on 45°, but lazy and over-spammed of projects to take care of it, it looks decent anyway !

Really good, have you though about what you'll do for the other sprites? Like making it's arms move, mouth open and tail move. It'll be difficult but very interesting when it's done.

Yep it's quite a large and difficult project that will keep me busy for months.
I'm planning to make the arms move to attack, maybe attacking with his right arm so when he moves you will see his body as if he was infront of you.

I'm also planning to make the mouth open and throw a pixelized fireball.

It's a very huge project, but interesting to pixelize, I love working on it

small advice for animating
do part for part...dont create the whole dragon, else it will differ from the other sprites tremendously
start with wings or so

I was kind of planning to do that, right now I'm just looking at how the drake would look and how I am going to fully texture it, next it will just require to figure how to cut each part and how it will be animated.

Hmm well it looks like I keep making weapons that are almost the same for the handles (same design on both sides)

I'll try and make a cool and fashion design, I already sketched something on paper

Ewh I didn't have time to work on anything for a whole week ! That sucks

But I had some time to sketch a heavy blade on paper, and then came out with this on paint.
I need some feedbacks, I don't know what color to give to the blade. I thought of some red or maybe blue. Maybe could be black I don't know.

Also, what would be best ? With or without "spikes" to the sides ?

Hmm still working on that one, not done at all but you get the idea. Gotta fix the contrast on the handle then organize pixels on the blade.
I'll call it Sea Dragon =D
