Invisible Mode for RC

It would be neat, if 'Invisible Mode' could be a right once more and not only for Global Staff, but Administrators on playerworlds. I'm not sure why it was removed, but Sometimes you just want to logon and work without getting pm's or someone trying to get your attention through the rc chat. Setting your nick to 'dnd', or 'working' doesn't do much. Just a suggestion !

This would be a great idea, when I'm on servers I get spammed with people asking to be staff and its very annoying.

There was an entry in the edit rights window once, although it probably never worked; not even people with an global admin level.

But yes, I guess it might be useful, although you could just ignore any incoming messages.

I can remember a button in RightsWindow which said "Invisible Mod" but it was not pushable for local Staffs. But yeah Invisible mod for Staffs on Playerworlds would be cool

What work could you possibly do online that you cannot do offline with the nessesary files?

Playerworld administrators/staff should not be on RC if they do not wish to be bugged.
You can also choose to ignore pm's ontop of that your staff for a reason, to "work" on a server. That work also includes dealing with people. You can choose to ignore them or be social.

And setting you name to DND works in general.

I need to be online while doing scripts since GS2 works online only. I'm always updating stuff to remove any bugs or make small fixes or additions to make stuff better, you cannot do that offline.

You can't ignore pm's from your RC. Read the thread topic title, and my first post. I clearly state that this right should be limited for Administrators.

As long as the person with the right has an alternate way for communication, there should'nt be a problem. Also, alot of playerworlds have forums, and public emails for a reason.

It was never pushable for anyone.

I don't think there is a need for this. If you really just want to work on a server then put "onlystaff=true" in the serveroptions or just ignore any incoming messages and set your status to DND.

But most of the time it is needed to be on RC to work. If I really work, I don't want to be bugged so I just set the status to DND or set dnd or busy as nickname and ignore all the private messages.

Most of the time, i want to get on to do stuff, instead i have to fix everyone elses problems half the time whats the only staff thing do?

This idea is like having an ignore option on RC.
What if someone was hacking, and a witness can't pm anybody because all the staff are in invisible mode?
If the staff is on player, there is no reason for an invisible mode for RCs since you would be on player.

If the staff is on player, there is no reason for an invisible mode for RCs since you would be on player.

Two Things:
1. It would be rather obvious that non-development staff (Player Relations) would not have this option since its their job to handle players, solves that problem.
2. PMs sent to NPC server could be displayed in RC in that case. Players would know to do this if they need attention.

That would not only be extremely annoying, but could stop people from even being able to communicate on RC at all (on larger-scale servers)

It would have restrictions of course, timelimits, etc. And people would be jailed if they did it too much they'd learn, of course if they didn't we would remove feature, sucks for them.
Anyways I wasn't really thinking to use it for a large server environment.
Though RC2 supports multiple chat windows I believe.

I suppose with restrictions it could work, but there are some servers (Unholy Nation) that's playerbase is just too immature to handle such a feature. But you're right, with RC2 being able to connect to Graal-IRC channels, that would probably be the best way to do it. (Assuming Stefan implements some sort of kick feature.)
