Server down?

I was going to log on to my server as usual today when I found it did not appear on server rc list. I have checked my email for an explanation and found none, I have checked my pay time, I still have 11 months or something. I upgraded a little while ago. It appeared that only my server was down, I have no idea why except maybe the server it was on went down but then why wernt more servers down? If anyone has an explanation please tell me.

HoudiniMan will become famous soon enough
Unexplained server outtage = 99.99% chance server computer problems.

Rule of thumb:

Wait 24 hours for the problem to resolve itself.
-If the problem persists and you have not yet figured out why:
-1-Search the forums for an explanation thread, there are probably 6. If not, go to step 2.
-2-Contact a global, if they don't know/can't help, go to step 3.
-3-Contact spark to see if it was purposefully shutdown, etc. for a reason.
In that order.

Just give it time and I am sure that the servers will be back. If not. Fourm PM Spark I guess.. That is the only thing you can do i guess.... Anyhow i seen that the servers where missing around 3:30 p.m EST

If it's a computer server problem, wouldn't Stefan/Unixmad Be the only people to fix it? (Not sure about Tux)

Wouldn't it be easier to make a quick closed sticky thread notifying that a server is down temporarily, then delete it when the problem is fixed? That way the affected managers would be notified and said threads are all but completely unnecessary.

Or better yet, send them an email informing the managers of such, then the mods wouldn’t have to constantly write threads and delete them.

There are boxes in NorthAmerica as well. They can't fix it themselfs. Everything will be back to normal when it is fixed. Complaining about it will only clog the forums with this crap. As mush as I dislike the customer support for Graal, (And it is worse for other games) this is not the place to do it.

My server is back up, I assume the others are, so I guess this thread is over, don’t close it you damn mods!

There were no problems with the server, I guess some global must have shutdown them, don't know why Zone was shutdown though
Normally you can just restart the server using the adminpanel tools on graalonline.com

If someone goes missing you have to wait 24hours to report it, because usually things are fixed in 24hours, and in the example: The person is found in 24hours or returns home.

It just saves alot of ''Why this and that?'' the second something happens.

Hmm, no global has access, without exploiting things.

Bleh, if you recall, you removed our access to this, because god forbid that we can actually help out a little bit more =/ Spark was the only one with access. Hmm... exploitation? That sounds like a certain person I know...

[edit]
I just checked the status in the admin panel, and it's listing them as "n/a" which it seems is listed for a lot of them. So perhaps a server issue or not, could also be that MONIT is not properly installed, which is quite possible as well.
[/edit]

Stefan was on today and he said it's because a server's (I will not name it) NPC server is taking up like 3 GBs. He said he'll get into contact with that server, fix things up and restart the servers.

I'm 99% sure that Graal has servers that are run by hosting companies at least somewhere in the world, if not all of them. Perhaps the hosting company doesn't notify them ASAP, or perhaps there are timezone conflicts...

So best case senario would probably be a 6 hour wait to actually get a reason for the outtage, with no estimated time of the problem being resolved... In the long run it would probably be fixed in 24 hours anyway, and notifying everybody didn't do any good. Half the people affected probably wouldn't have even noticed due to times.

If there's a known long-term server problem there's usually a sticky in the main forums. Plus, if it weren't for people making threads asking where the servers are what would we have to do during the downtime?

Ok The bugged npcserver of that server (2 posts above) has been temporary disabled, tomorrow we will work on fixing it. I have restarted all the servers that have been shutdown because of that problem.
