Inventory goes duplication insane.

The bug is identical to this previously-posted one, except that now my inventory has given up any semblance of being sane. No bags open, no bags active - whenever I drop or pick up ANYTHING, it duplicates my heavil hands and keys, the last two items in my inventory. I have thirty-nine different slots for keys and heavil hands at this point in time. My inventory is almost unnavigable.

The only thing I can think of that would cause this is that my inventory is so full of other items (carrying around all my worldly posessions as I do) that the string lists which contain it are somehow being overloaded and confusing themselves to death. That would also appear consistent with the sack glitch linked to above - opening a bag adds more items to the inventory GUI, and these are treated in the same manner as regular items, so perhaps it's an item count problem. But why? I've seen people store more than 4,096 items in a string list (hilarious attempt to cache entire levels and warps to strings, though too slow to cross level transitions), and these maintained their integrity despite containing all that detail. Why would the inventory lists have problems with a few tens, maybe a hundred, tops, of items?

Resetting my account to ditch all the miscellaneous stuff I carry around ain't an option for me. Neither is getting a house. These cure the problem in the short term, but they don't prevent it. At very least, I'd like to find out what the physical upper item limit of the inventory is, and if there are any ways of expanding this limit.
