Not exactly sarcastic, but I understand what you mean. Still, is it really proper behaviour? I'm not an idiot, and I don't appreicate being called one just because someone has to sustain some persona that he built up. I have nothing against him insulting those who clearly deserve it, but is ignorance of a single substance really grounds to call me an idiot?

And if I ever called him an idiot unprovoked, do you think he'd take it as lightly as we're supposed to?

I take it lightly when it's from someone who is obviously joking. Just like when I call you an "idiot", I'm joking.
