Should I or should I not

I've been working on my server and now starting to debate. Should I use a NPC Server or shouldn't I. From those who experienced what its like using both, please help me out. Whats the advantages and disadvantages of using a NPC server.

I notice it lags a lot-- such as taking 3 minutes to read a sign.
Also someone told me it reads clientsides only max of .1 timeouts.
