(Hand on head)
If i'm being fair, magic in general is very underpowered. Whereas levelling phys or wisdom has clear advantages, levelling magic is infact a terrible thing, you're rewarded with sp per level, but strangely... your spells all cost more sp. Naturally you'd think 'they must be stronger now' - not the case. That's one problem that has to be fixed, rise in sp cost and increase in power of the spell should happen every 5 levels, as with phys improvements.
There are alot of pow/dex gear these days, so mages aren't as worse off as they used to be, although i wonder how many mages can find a pair of MSoG and Archers to get that fabled 30dex 30pow...
But lets not kid ourselves, magic is overpowered in a sense that it can be spammed to no end (based on sp reserves ofcourse - mana crystals?). The main culprit is bullet storm. Especially storm. Cooldowns for some spells need to be introduced. I'd probably only suggest them for bullet storm, missile swarm (if it was fixed to dmg). I wreckon as mlvl increase and obvious spell power, aoe spells like bullet storm would last longer and cause more damage, but still prevented from spamming more than 3 at once, which may be possible at around 80-90+ mlvl.
Heh, i'd also like to see mages get wow sort of skip spell, since gaining distance to cast is how mages fight, it shouldn't be the case that a mage must attempt get more speed than a warrior... |
