Choppy sounds

I haven't yet determined what exactly sets it off, but the last time right after the window lost focus the music (perhaps only the music?) began to sound choppy, even after refocusing the window.

Anybody have a similar problem?

Using Santa Cruz Turtle Beach sound card with latest drivers.
