Unixmad/Stefan Please Read

I talked to Tseng and he said that 2k1 will be up when Unixmad goes on and does what needs to be done. When will one of you or someone get on and release it?

Everyone is excited for 2k1 to be fully released and the wonderful economy and the players and the new exp system that was shortly lived while on gold because 2k2 didn't help it, lol

I can't wait myself

And to clear things up...

Dont blame Unixmad or Stefan because 2k1 aint open even though the counter is supposed to be at -4, blame the management of 2k1 because account resets should've been the first thing done before they even put the countdown up.

Someone i know did that once, got their account banned by Unix, he doesnt tolerate excess emails and forum pm's.

All you can do is wait, and wait, and wait.

Seems to me its a waste then to blame it on anything but the management

when everything can be reset via script (except onlinetime)

So there is no need to ask for stefan/unixmad to do it, when they can do it themselves

They can make a npc that resets every account that logs on maybe? or has a certain npc that they know every account that has logged on might have? O_o I had a NPC log the creation time of every account that loged on then i could create an npc that would reset any account made before or after a certain date . Everyone that has a PW should think about making a similar npc its quite easy to make and can save you a hard time if you ever need to do account resets and you wont have to bug stefan/unix

I think Tseng said that it was too inefficient to do it that way.

Not hardly. Jeff made one for Providence last year when he, Jagen, and I worked on it, and it worked great. It was a very simple script, too. When they logged on, they got reset, a flag was added to show they had been reset, and voila.

The point isn't CAN we make a script to reset accounts: the Staff of 2K1 certainly could. The fact of the matter is that neither Tseng nor Unixmad will be rushed into using something when there's a more efficient alternative. Don't worry, it's not like we've come to a standstill waiting for Unixmad. Development continues on just as it would if all of you were scurrying around the over world.

Explain to me how waiting for unixmad (good luck!) is more efficient than a script that could work fine if done correctly?

I don't see how the script could be inefficient. You set the startlevel= in server options. Then in the server options you put the script. It is gunna be the level EVERYONE starts at.

I think they might just be buying time personally...Probably weren't really as ready as they had liked to be.

Don't ask me how it's less efficient. I'm just relaying what seems to be management's general consesus.

As for being ready, yes we were where we intended to be when the server was supposed to open a few days ago. Don't be so cynic.

The longer 2k1 waits the more potential players that wash away.

Plus I think that if you're -5 days on the countdown then you SHOULD be desperate to do anything you can.

Zurkiba, Zurkiba. Do you really think that a few days will make potential players swear never to play 2k1? Didn't think so. Why should we be desperatE? We're not at -5. At the moment, I beleive we just hit -4

It is Silly to say that they would lose players over a few days, but they are losing Hype, But thats a good thing IMO, Hype = Expectations.

Anything over Expectations is a Bonus.
whereas Anything less than Expectations is a disappointment.

Bonuses mean happier players.

And as much As I'd love to see 2k1 release right now, I'd prefer to wait for a proper reset.

NPC-Server reset isn't "full." Although it has the same effect over time.

Its like half cleaning something and slowly every now and then cleaning a bit more, its much better to do it all at once.

Doesn't make sense now I read it but oh well..
