Merchant Boats

I was just talking to Neko about this, and he says that he thought of an idea, which I agree about entirely:
Kingdoms should have special trade-vessels, they can't be produced by ship making places, but instead, all kingdoms are provided with like...5 or so. They have no weapons, and can't be destroyed. Trusted kingdom members would have access to these vessels (I'd say the Trade-people). They would be allowed to store items on the ships, maybe have market stands there, and the players could travel from island to island selling things. It would definetly give a greater RP atmosphere to the server. 1 thing though, I fear it will be abused by kingdoms to get their men safely to the enemy island, so instead the kingdoms should choose whether market vessels would be able to dock at their island (I'm not sure if that can even be scripted though). Also, since I know ships often get lost and can't be reclaimed, maybe kings should have some ability to summon the ship back to the shipyard, like, by saying "Return Trading Vessel 1" or something like that...

Sounds like Selzar's old idea but like, advanced. It's cool.
The Trademasters and whatnot from each kingdom could run those ships, maybe the stands and everything would be where normally the cargo room is

Yes that is quite possible to do. I'll mention it to Stefan when I get on RC tonight. I like this idea a lot!
Also, in Kingdom Wars you don't use ferry's or unsticking and such, you do it by making boats, otherwise you get an "RP Violation" called on you and then the other Kingdom doesn't fight. Samurai did that to us once. They used the trade island bells and then did "unstick me"

Pretty sure unsticking in kingdom mode returns you directly to the kingdom bell...

He's saying that one time they took the old bell from bog (a while back) and got to the trade isle, then unsticked to our castle. But then Bouk called them back and had them do it the right RPing way.
So anyway, basically the ways to do an invasion without screwing up RPing are by going through the dungeon, zeppelin, or making your own boat. Ferry (and if theyre added these mercahnt ships) would be against RP rules

Given that you would have to leave someone with the boat or sacrifice it for the cause (you just know it'll get stolen), that's kinda lame. Unless you push it out to sea/return it to your home island and say Leave...

I have started using this idea awhile ago
David e'Kireon and I would make a ship and go to different kingdoms selling items.

the Idea i am thinking about is each kingdom importing things from thier island that you can not get any where else

for Zormite it would be
Zormite tables, chairs, Blades, Wands,
tridents, and X bows

i am not sure what it would be for different islands
anywho i have not had a merchant boat for awhile since
David quit Graal so i thought it might be nice to take it a step futher
I am glad some many people like my idea

It would be NOTHING for other islands, because only the Zormites get special stuff! :grrr:

Zormite gets stuff because Zen makes the GFX and asks Stefan for help. Stefan scripts and puts it up, maybe if the other Kings and Emperors actually DID something.. then STefan would help them out too.

Other kings aren't ****y enough to make an entire sword spriteset (and generally also not graphics admins :grrr: ) then tell Stefan to upload it when he's working on something, you know, IMPORTANT.

Well, I suppose it would be possible to make a Forest sword based on the boomerang using the Zormite Blade ganis and weapon type...maybe the Dustari would just get to make Broadswords? Keen Katanas for Samurai? Return the Hook to Pirates?

Fine, but 1) it has to be to scale with the world, ie Pirate Gun, not an uzi, and 2) then every island gets it's own ranged weapon. Trident for Zormites, Ebony Bow hardly counts for Forest since it can apparently be made on ANY Kingdom island, Dustari and Samurai need theirs...
Forest - ? Bows make the most sense...maybe slings?
Dustari - ? Longbows again...
Samurai - Shuriken (like fast spears)? Blowguns?
