Gmap Question...

Wolf: I dont know who to talk to about this so Im gonna post it. If I wanted to use gmap for my server, and I make my own buildings (hand drawn ofcourse) and I make the gmap tiles, are we allowed to use it?

I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to use them.
Enigma has gmaps with 2k2 tileset.

cant use gmaps on classic server

and unless you are stefans backseat lover, cant get gold server.

er, its not legal to use 3d terrain on any other server. but gmaps are ok.

alls a gmap is for on flat terrain ( like pics1.png ) is to make it so you can use one script on a buttload of levels, perfect for day night, mine rocks, boats etc etc.

i think this is what a flat gmap should look like:

GRMAP001
WIDTH #
HEIGHT #
GENERATED <level>

WIDTH should be the number of levels the map is wide, HEIGHT is obviously the number of levels it is high ( not like, second story or whatever, basically length or something )

GENERATED is the name of the last level in the map, ( the bottom right one :-P )

GRMAP001 doesnt change at all, just........leave it lol

Providence has some test models for that. But we've been hitting a snag with making the gmap of the current overworld. Jagen was saying something like the colors or so gets messed up.

Wrong. If your server gets caught with a gmap it will be taken down.

Wrong we've (providence) even talked to Stefan about it. We can use gmaps just not the tile sets used for 2k2. We where interested in using it for a 2d gmap. We have trials that are working but converting the existing overworld is giving us Guff. Stefan actually thought it was a good idea.

actually gmaps WERE going to be newworlds feature but Stefan 'gave' 2002 gmaps/terrains
