Why RPing on 2k2 sucks and the things that won't be done to fix it.

The best days of RPing were when you could fight another kingdom with nothing at stake but your pride and your spar rating, back on 2K1 before elitism took over. RPing on 2K2 never really worked. It never really could have worked because it was an extension of 2K1 RPing (The people who RPed at the end of 2K1 are the people who RPed at the beginning of 2K2), which had already been ruined, beginning with TrueHeat abusing staff powers to destroy Dustari, and then TrueHeat further abusing powers to go on a kingdom-genocide until Karakaze Troupe was the sole remaining kingdom.

This didn't ruin RPing because of any single Kingdom being destroyed, or even because all of them were (the main ones were revived on 2K2), but because it marked an ideological shift in RPing, where it became dominated by elitists and being a "true RPer" meant being anti-fun. Before this, people who chatted on toguilds while hanging out in the marketplace were the lifeblood of RPing, but afterwards they were looked down upon by the elitism that was controlling RPing (If TrueHeat would delete your kingdom if he saw people doing this, he deleted your kingdom anyways). These people weren't "noobs" either (though today they would probably be called as such). When the call went out that there would be a battle or big event, they knew it was time to stop saying "lel" and "roffel".

Even today this elitism is still present (you see it whenever someone complains about people making trades on tag or things like that). But even if it wasn't, RPing probably wouldn't be successful on 2K2. Even if the people weren't anti-fun, this system still is, so it would need to change.

What needs to change is that the action needs to be put back into RPing. The problem isn't with the players. The average players of 2K1 and 2K2 weren't very different, but players on 2K1 could be enticed into RPing because RPing was fun, which it isn't anymore.

Problem #1 - It's too hard to start a fight

Each kingdom is on it's own island, and it's a long ship ride to get there, especially to move a large number of people there. It takes too long to get to your own kingdom for activities too. The kingdoms' castles should all be moved to the Main Island so that they're easy to attack. The kingdom islands can still remain for purposes of quests and housing, but it would be best to have the castles on the main island. Dustari's castle can be in that big area west of the west haunted house. Samurai can go east of Hirathia. Zormite should have an underwater castle accessed around the stone-mine island. Pirates can have a cave on Hotaru island. Forest can have a castle somewhere in the Northeast.

The castles should have either a gate or a moat and bridge which can be opened/closed or extended/retracted, along with a kingdom-members-only entrance. However, I'm suggesting this system of access because it worked on 2K1, some changes may have to be made on 2K2.

Problem #2 - Unbalanced Fighting

To solve this problem, a "kingdom mode" should be introduced. You enter kingdom mode when you're on a kingdom tag in a kingdom area (a castle and immediate surrounding area). In kingdom mode, all stats are set to a fixed level and can't be changed by items. People in kingdom mode and people not in kingdom mode shouldn't be able to hurt each other. Weight should have no effect in kingdom mode. When in kingdom mode, you get certain weapons depending on your kingdom class, which is assigned by the kingdom recruiters, just like your rank. Warriors get a sword, archers a bow, sorcerors and priests get a staff and can use only a few chosen spells. Other weapons are disabled.

Of course, none of this will ever happen. So anyone want to buy some dias? I'll give you a good deal.

I agree with a lot of things you say but things like weapons that you would get depending on wich Kingdom you are in is already suggested a couple of times and we always got the same answer that it would be possible after the new mudlib would come out (but since they never say when it is comming out i'm pretty sure it will take a while)
So actually even if we want to change something we're not allowed

I don't see why you would need a new mudlib. Just use invisible skills to restrict their use.
