In the past they said they can't do it because it would be possible for people to go to old posts and add goatses or whatever.

Maybe if it was possible for the post to be "bumped", as in, marked unread, it would work.

I agree, though, it would especially be useful for posts in the code gallery where you're updating the original script.

time limit isnt much of a problem for me, gives an excuse to double post sometimes.

Most likely because edited posts remain where they are, thus can stealthily be edited and hard to really find out.

However, I agree it's frustrating, especially for sections like the code gallery. I have to post updates instead of updating the main posts, and chances are people aren't going to go through the whole thread to maybe see an update in there.

Should someone ever run into it they will report it anyway, either way atleast one person ends up seeing it.

Maybe for the code gallery, but otherwise I think post editing is stupid. I seem to be the only one.

I mean, this forum lets you preview your post and everything, and if you're going to post a little while after your first post, I don't see why posting again has such a bad stigma.

I would like it for certain forums to have posts that can be editted, like the first post in the code gallery. Maybe if we had something like this we could do a post your Graal resume of places you've worked (If you aren't currently employed on a server) so that server managers can contact you about working for their server. Basically, a hiring forum for people to say they are looking for work.

Any good developers can find a project in a few seconds, I think it should be up to the project to advertise their needs, not up to the developer.

The general mechanism of the quoted text is why I disagree, you should not be able to edit posts beyond a reasonable time period (~12 hours). If you need something edited you can just ask a moderator. I feel comfortable presuming these sort of circumstances are isolated.

About every single post I've made in code gallery has needed to be edited, and I'm sure this is true of most other people's as well.

In general, it is useful whenever you want to make a point in the first post of the thread so people will see it.

I think the circumstance of someone changing their post maliciously would be much more isolated than one of someone changing their post in order to benefit readers.

Yea, but because it helps communicate clearly it becomes an important part of the archival process (which occurs naturally on these and most other forums).

This isn't built-in, and we've searched for mods to do it and found none that work with the current version of vBulletin here.
