Forum Improvement: Resource Dump + Game Design Forum

Okay, I thought this might be a decent idea. Right now, we have a bunch of separate forums for resources and such like graphics, music, and so on. I was thinking that it might be a good idea to create an area where people can put resources that everyone can make use of. (Like tilesets to make LATing for certain servers easier, music, and so on.) Right now, unless you go on other servers and edit their stuff to make it your own, it's usually hard to find resources for doing certain things. I think the code gallery in the scripting forum is nice, and similar things could be implemented so people can quickly grab resources without being accused of stealing them or whatever. Just a thought.

As for the game design forum idea, I was wondering what other people see as being sucessful or unsuccessful game ideas. So, a tiny forum to have discussion on different aspects of a server might spark some new ideas. We all talk about needing help with staffing and stuff like that, but usually it's not specific. (How a menu should be designed, what sort of economy should be in place, should there be more emphasis on dungeon design, etc.) That forum could possibly be thrown into playerworlds as a subforum as well.

Anyway, just my two cents. I'd just like to see the community come together and share ideas / resources more, instead of privatizing it all.

---Resource Dump---

Many a time I've looked for an image I've seen. Yet couldn't find the name of the image or what server it may be from. That seems like a good idea if someone is looking for an image similar to what they need and wanted to see it for reference and whoever had did so. So yeah I'm thinking this is a pretty good idea. But it could resort to higher cases of stolen property with really small unnoticeable things.

---Game Design Forum---

In the Pixelation forums they have something like this and on a few other forums. I think this is a pretty good idea. It will people to share ideas and give other people improved or better ideas to what they've already created. From experience working with you I think you and Butz would have the most posts here. But yeah, could end up working well. But eventually someone will go..."WTFUXORS U STOLDED MEHIDEOR" and arguments will take place. But if people can behave themselves then it should work.

Good thinking Draenin (As if you do anything else. )

Usually we can identify stolen stuff pretty quickly. However, an immediate benefit would be that people could collaborate on stuff like modern / futuristic / other tilesets or NPCs that could be used by the public, and would probably ease the strain on developers to crank out resources before deadlines. (Like people who are creating a modern server but don't want to be accused of stealing tiles from other servers or searching frantically for someone with the patience to do tiles for them.)

Graal needs more cooperation when creating playerworlds.
I have an object-based MudLib that I'm working on that is coming along quite nicely and I think I might release to public if I can be garunteed that all changes to it will be shared with community. Once that is complete I will begin work on an NPC Dialog system based off the one featured in TES3: Morrowind.

Another point:
Ever notice how PW Owners get bored of their own genre?
Like they'll have a very strict serious SNES-style medeval server, then they add an elevator and a train, then they start slipping in special effects and in-jokes, and humorous NPCWs...and eventually they have a Mulch server, it's a little of everything but not terribly good at any of it.
Methinks the world would be a better place if instead, we all contributed our Off stuff to the Resource Dump. Ferinstance, if I was working on Classic and made an awesome gun that fired black holes that sucked everyone in...I'd hate to see it go to waste, but uploading it to Classic isn't necessarily Better, see?
