Status of New Year's Festival

Current Status: Planning

The Thanksgiving Food Festival was a wee bit of a flop, and the first Zormite/Dustari fight event was a flop. Sort of to be expected. I'm going to try to keep a balance of combat themed, and peace themed events. This New Years I'd like to hold a peaceful event.

Planning Stage 1: Getting cooperation from other kingdom leaders.
I (Emperor Drakeero) will be a judge.
King Johnathan has agreed to be a judge.
Empress Susse has agreed to be a judge.
Aran Draxx has agreed to be a judge.

Planning Stage 2: Determining nature and extent of competition.
-Done. Two different competitions.
-In order to avoid difficulties judging a female costume vs a male costume, there will be two beauty contests. One for men one for women. Cross-dressers are welcome for comic relief but probably won't be allowed to actually compete.
In order to diversify the type of non-combat activities in kingdoms, I looking forward to trying to hold a Beauty Contest (or Macho Contest for the men), and a Music festival later in the evening.

Planning Stage 3: Determing the time/location/rules, etc.
-Going to hold a poll about it being the day before New Years.
-Thinking the Beauty/Macho contest should be around 3 in the afternoon EST time. Followed by a catered meal at the Misty Mug Tavern, and then the music festival at 6 or 7 EST.
-Still not decided where they will be hosted, but I've got a few ideas.
-As for rules, i'm not going to bore you with those now until I'm done with them.
-Start practicing with your flutes now.

Planning Stage 4: Determing/Acquiring the prize.
-Probably gonna have a "win" prize for both events, followed with a second place prize. Unless someone wants to donate a pair of EC's, or convince the staff to gimme a pair of EC's to hand out to the winners.
-Also, some form of 'minimum' players and 'minimum' performance to qualify for the prize. If not enough people show up, the second place prize will become the first place prize for example.

Seeing as how 4 out of 5 kingdom leaders have pledged (and I'm pretty sure Alan will too, just want to make absolutely sure before I commit him). It's probably a good time to start RSVP'ing. Even if it is a bit early.

This even will most likely take place the day before New Year's, however, RP-wise, its supposed to happen precisely ON New Year's. The beauty contests will most likely be held early in the afternoon around 2 or 3 o'clock EST time, and then there will be a hopefully catered meal at the MMT afterwards. (This also kills time, or provides time if the Beauty Contest runs over), until about six o-clock at night EST when the Music contest will start.

Honestly, the best way to prepare for the event, is finish any major grinding runs the days before, and wrap up the lose ends either the day before, or that morning, and keep your schedule clear for the rest of the day and evening. This is event, if it works, is supposed to keep you occupied except for a possible break-time between the events.

You REALLY should wrap up your business both real life and in-game (and this includes getting in touch with parents and getting your chores and such straightened up beforehand so they know and will let you have the night off, unless they had something else big planned.) That way you won't have to drop out of any of the contests beforehand.
