Automatic Status Icons

Quote:
It would be freakin' sweet if we could get some script control of that [playerlist status icons]. Then we could automatically set people's status to things like "Questing" or "In an event"... or Sparring, for that matter

This might be offtopic but I do not wish to create a new topic for a pointless thing such as this.

Is it just me or does the "questing" playerlist icon on g2k1 look realy weird. It looks like a.. very weird hamster?

Bump, because this is a good idea and with the new Graal version it could probably be done much easier.

Currently that icon cannot be updated or even accessed by script (not shown in script player list), but we could add support for that.

That would be good. It would also be nice if the default icons displayed could be changed. For instance you could set the "Away" as the back of the players head rather than a predefined "back" head, and other icons such as "DND" with the cross could be changed, while still keeping the players head. It would be better than adding the option to the server options and uploading a file named plisticon[status].png.

Well that can probably be scripted using the scripted playerlist which will replace the old playerlist in the next version anyway.

Ok added support for changing the icon, on client-side, in the new version.

Can you also add support for displaying eg. a head animation of a player in the playerlist? Instead of their player.head (lets say we make a playerlist_icon.gani file with the head and stuff such as earrings attached to it in it)?

If scripted RC is replacing regular RC, can you still keep the RC icon in the notification area tray down at the bottom right of the screen? I find that useful with PM's and just generally finding it. After looking at these screenshots, seems that has not been added.

Another idea for the playerlist, is if servers could place categories onto it (like Admins, Buddies, Guild) for situations like on Bomy Island and Kingdoms with their "Kingdoms", Era and their "Gangs" and Zodiac with their "Nations"; when the tag is worn it doesn't make sense to be in the 'Guild' category, as that's not what they are. If it was able to be scripted, it could be placed into the serveroptions which guilds fit into the new categories, like the staff guild list.

For example:
kingdomguilds=Dustari,Zormite,Pirates,Samurai
gangguilds=Los Carteles,Blazian Bandits,Black Holst
nationguilds=Seryl,Agara,Alseus

Nice nice Can you upload the updated version for me please?

Few things though;
- RC Background does not display for me (maybe add it into mainfiles?).
- The player profile should be external I'd say.
- Not sure if degtorad() (and maybe radtodeg()) were fixed already? Reminding you.
- The hints of the playerlist keep showing when mouse is moved out of the list.. it's just a little annoying.
- It doesn't save playerlist resizes/positions (eg. when restarting the client).
- I used to debug with F2 and all the echo's. When the F2 window is external I have to resize my screens to show both.. because if I click somewhere in the screen F2 gets pushed to the back. Not sure if this will be annoying for some other people?
- After a while my keychecks seem to act weird, but I've already told you that in game, just reminding.

It's because when you set GuiWindowCtrl.isexternal, it sets the window's position to the mouse position because the GUI is actually at 0,0 of the external window. We need some way to be able to modify the window's position such as maybe externalx, externaly and externalpos (array of the two). resize() could also maybe be modified to change externalx and externaly instead of x and y when isexternal == true.

Maybe there should be a alwaysontop variable? And priority is given to which ever alwaysontop variable is higher in the controls array (changed with pushtoback(), etc).

Graal has seemed to have problems with key checks a lot for many many versions. Most notably is the keydown2 sticking which I find most annoying when making a custom movement system. I always get players on my server going "help! I can't stop going up!" and I have to say "press up to unstick it".

Not really. V5 (new version is 5.2 or so) saved playerlist positions and screensize. The screensize is saved but the playerlist becomes small everytime I open it on another server. Stefan just needs to make it load at the last position and set the same width/height.

Not really what I ment, when moving (keydown(0 - 3) is pressed) sometimes the movement is breaking and it's acting 'shocky'. This only happens when the client is active for a while.

Open the clientrc and click on the GUI editor. Create a new GuiWindowCtrl and set isexternal to true. Now look at x and y. See how they are both 0? Try modifying them.

And yes, I'm using 5.205 and I don't see it doing what you say. The playerlist always appears at my mouse position when I hit F7 for the first time. If I close the playerlist and hit F7 of course it appears at the same place because that is only calling hide() and show() which is not modifying isexternal.

That's why I told to fix it.. 'Save position and size'

You'll get use to it. With some improvements, it is much better since it will hopefully let servers customize it more.

I demand some client options that you can change which will tell the default controls (F2 log, playerlist and so on) if they are external or internal. For example, since the scripted playerlist will used and the other one is most likely gone, I want that to be external. But I like having the F2 log window internal.

Noone cares what you demand, the rest of us are more important.

Why do you want the F2 window internal? :o

Because I'm used to it. I dont want an external window to float around above my Graal main window, maybe even bugging up and being non-visible when I click Graal. I want it internal.

What's with Graal opening windows at the mouse position? It's annoying. I hate it on RC.
