Graphics card, RAM, Processor, Internet connection, OS, ect.

Basically everything will have an effect on how smoothly you move/how "fast" you are.

I actually felt faster and smoother on my old 1.7 ghz than this 3.1, so yeah. I think it's just how well Graal agrees with the environment it's running in.

Er, this is a rather uneducated question... which makes sense.

Graal is a program on a computer, and all programs are affected by quite a few things on the computer:

CPU speed
RAM
Video Card
Drivers
Background processes

These are just the basics. There's a ton more, but these are the main areas that affect speed.

A good computer wont make you run faster, but a bad one will make you slower. Graal's engine works on a 20tps engine clock, and unless your comp can't handle the cpu required, you shouldn't move faster than this.

Er...

what are you talking about? What is a TPS? Do you know what you're talking about?

It's possible that he meant FPS... T is right on top of F on the keyboard. ;P

His logic is still flawed. Graal is not capped at 20fps.

Graal requires no more than 20FPS, and running a rate faster than that would have no effect (increased speed, reduced lag) on the game. Unfortunatly, he does know what he's talking about, and I am willing to bet large that he knows far more than you do.

[EDIT]
1 hertz = 1 TPS. That should put it into perspective.

EXAMPLE:
700 MHz processor = 700 million tps.

As far as I know, it is.

is there anyway to display fps? i disagree with the internet connection, i move the exact same speed with 56k and 2000k (i have both) and im on a 3.0 ghz p4 and 512 ram, geforce 5900 but there are people that still seem twice as fast as me, might be just speed hacks though

Walk speed, unless modified via script or hack, is the same unless you don't have a level 3 shield... that may be the reason. There isn't a way to display FPS, unfortuately.

TPS is Ticks Per Second, as in the game engine processes everything in chunks every 20th of a second. Even if the FPS is faster, because the game engine is capped to a maximum speed, your movement rate wont increase, it is merely drawing the same scene extra times. .
